what is magic 4?

I'm new to tekken, or fighting games in general. i watched a lot of youtube videos to teach me how to play and they keep talking about good magic 4 and stuff and i don't know what that means lol.

is there anymore tekken terms that i should understand? i only know some and it makes it difficult for me to learn the game

Magic 4 is just standing 4. The reason it got its name is because it is usually abbreviated as ☆4 in combo tutorials online back in the old Tekken days.
☆ means neutral, or no directions.
And maybe star = magic idk haha

A good magic 4 is 11 frames high, has a chunky hitbox and leads to a big combo on counter hit. Examples of chars with good magic 4 are Lee and Kazumi. This is a good move to throw out when you are being pressured.

gee, that's it? i thought it was some combo using 4 moves or some other stuff like that lmao. thanks for the answer :)
