Anyone could explain Hwoarang to me?
Hi
I'm new to fighting games, he looks very cool but I don't really understand his left/right foot stance + his 'flamingo'. I really want to take my time to learn him but I couldn't find any guide on the internet
Thanks

some moves in your move list can only be accessed if you're in a stance/flamingo

Yeah but what is flamingo in fact? And why is there a right/left foot stance?

Flamingo is just one of his stances, like right foot/left foot are also stances. What this does for him is to give him acces to a different set of moves. Also he can't block in flamingo stance, he can only defend by attacking or switching to a stance where he can block.

Hwoarang is kinda hard to learn because he is one of the characters with more moves to remember, if not the most, and the stance transitions.

Basically, Hwoarang is considered a really aggressive rushdown character while being highly creative in his mix-ups and pressure. All those stances give you access to a lot of different options to harass and pressure your opponent in multiple ways so they either get scared of you and don't want to try taking their turn or get frustrated, mash and be punished heavily with his CH set-ups. However, he's pretty technical and advanced to play, obviously due to his multiple stances but also due to the sheer amount of options he has from all those stances.

But to answer your question, his stances is what fuel his amazing mix-up game and a good Hwoarang is someone that knows how to be unpredictable and creative with his mix-up options.

flamingo is basically when he puts his leg up, a special stance that allows you to access more moves from it, hwoarang has two sets of strings/combos depending on which side you on are on and both sides have flamingo stances.

Hwoarang has a couple of different stances he can be in, in order to use certain moves. He has:

Left Foot Forward (Default stance)
Right Foot Forward (Press Right Kick + Left Kick)
Left Flamingo (Hwoarang stands on his right leg, with his left leg up)
Right Flamingo (Hwoarang stands on left leg, with his right leg up)
Back Turned, Left Foot Forward (Press Right Punch + Left Punch in Left Foot Forward)
Back Turned, Right Foot Forward (Press Right Punch + Left Punch in Right Foot Forward)

From each of these stances, Hwoarang has access to a different set of moves.

Many of his moves can cancel into different stances, which adds to the complexity.

For example, Hwoarang a defined set of moves he can do from LFF. In addition to those, he has a set of moves he can only do from LF. He can perform a string from LFF that ends with him in LF, from which he can do different moves and continue into RF, RFF, etc.

He's a really hard character to learn, expect to get your butt kicked. This is pretty much my first fighting game and its taken me a while to get to a point where I'm not just constantly losing. He is dope, though.

Best character in the series.

BTW basic way to enter left flamingo stance is forward + left kick and right flamingo forward + right kick. But as was mentioned by my colelague there are many other ways to enter the stances.

If you are not an lab rat like me that spends most of the time in practice mode examining movesets I recommend that you sometimes randomly mash kicks and arrows. Hwoarang has an ability to create beautiful combinations even unintentionally. It can give you inspiration for actual intentional mixups.

He looks really fun. Any other rushdown character but easier to play?
And pablo there are no recent guides :/

There are Tekken 7 guides but even Tekken Tag 2 guides work 95% of the time. There are little changes in Tekken. The bread and butter Hwoarang is a hidden gem. Watch it. The long combos are not relevant but almost literally everything else is valid in Tekken 7.
Howarang is a massive wall of various kicks which you use to flatten your opponent and you have to know your mix ups and your stances your punches are effectively your interupts and quick pokes nothing else.
According to the quick explanation guide of all characters I have :
- Easy Rushdown characters : Gigas, Kazumi Mishima (more range rushdown that straight up in your face).
- Medium Difficulty : Marshall Law, Paul Phoenix, Sergei Dragunov.
- Hard/Advanced : Bryan Fury, Heihachi Mishima, Hwoarang, Nina Williams.

Imho Bob is great and easy rushdown character.

And Dragunov is pretty much rushdown character too. He has huge tools to create pressure.
