FPS Drops caused by external USB Sound Card
So here is what's going on in my case:

The game runs perfectly fine on highest settings if I pull the USB plug of my sound card.

As soon as I plug it in, I'm getting random FPS drops, no matter what settings I use.

At around 1:38 I switch to lowest settings, just in case you're one of the nonbelievers.

I've been trying everything I can imagine for weeks now to get the game running well with sound.
I tried it on a different sound card with the same result.

Intel Core i7 - 3820 @3.6 GHz
Asus Strix GTX 1070
32 GB of RAM

The game is installed to a 1 TB Samsung SSD

Does anyone have a solution for that problem?

Tekken 7 is the only game I have having trouble with my sound card(s).

what sound cards do you have? I make a lot of music so an external soundcard is a must for me. I have zero issues regarding this.

I used a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22.

Is it running some kind of software or perhaps a driver?
Take a look at that stuff , it might be using up more recources than you expected. Or maybe due to a bug it could be chugging recources.

If I think a program is causing lag I tend to put it into low priority, like for instance wall paper engine. If the game is at a higher priority it generally removes the issues for me.

wat, not sure about the behringer but the 2i2 should be fine. You checked the obvious stuff? Buffer, drivers and all that?

Just the regular driver, no special software or anything.
Somehow I cannot set priorities right now... If I remember correct I could do that in Task Manager rioght?

Got all the latest drivers installed, not sure what you mean by buffer though, sorry.

Yes task manager > more details > details tab > rightclick > set priority

This might help, I can not be shure as I can't replicate your problem.

Sadly it couldn't fix my issue. But thanks for your help!

Funny enough, the FPS drops just got even worse.
I'm getting them on the menu as well and they happen every 2 to 4 seconds now. :D
Even the videos are stuittering.

That sounds like a memory leak to me, is any program or service using up way to much memory? Or just an unusual amount?

Or perhaps something is wrong with your video card itself, hence why it can't seem to do anything right. I had this once too but instead of lags every 4 seconds my pc crashed every 3 minutes. Turned out a cirtuit burned trough in my gpu.

No, nothing unusual.
It's not happening anymore at the high rate all of a sudden.
Seems like the game decides by itself when it is doing that crap. :D
All my other games are working well, so I guess everything is fine on video card end.

The only thing that helps is playing without sound...

Well if I hear that it must be something bugging out between tekken 7 and the soundcard. And by the irregularity I can guess that it only happens when playing certain sounds, or type of sounds.

I don't think I can offer much more help without being able to replicate the problem on my end, and its going to be damn tough to fix something like this, it will require very detailed diagnosing to locate exectly what is causing it. And then you will still need to fix it.
So good luck with that.

The only thing you can try is routing the games sound directly to your speakers/headphones, there are different pieces of software then can help you do this.

Hi there,

did you tried any possible different sample rate and bit rate in your audio settings/sound driver to solve your problem?

Like for example:

16bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)
16bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
16bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality)
16bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)
24bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality)
24bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)
24bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality)
24bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)
and so on.
