How does blocking work?
Hi all, i bought this game recently with the sale, and ive noticed you can start blocking while the enemy has a string going. Which i found weird coming from MK and DBZ.
Also not sure which combos are unblockable, i just heard the term on a video.

Oh and one more thing, there are no overheads but im sure ive been hit while crouch guarding, how does that work?

Thanks in advance, im so happy i gave this game a chance.

I see you are making Mortal Kombat references, i can help. Like you i first thought there was a block button. There is no block button. Simply doing nothing you are already blocking mid and highs. you can only block lows if you hold down or down+back. you stop blocking when you side step and move forward unless you sidestep and then hold back. moves that glow with dots on the leg or fist are tracking moves that are for tracking sidesteps. Yeah, so blocking is automatic you can duck highs and punish with a mid or low move. If you crouch down you can be punished with mids crouch blocking only blocks lows so mids can launch you if you are caught. unblockable's cannot be blocked as the name implies, you just have to get used to seeing them coming they are ussually slow and many of them are high so you can duck them and punish or sidestep them. But it just comes with character knowledge so dont feel bad if you get hit by them. They are no over head moves some moves may have a downward motion that might look like a overhead but they are considered a mid in tekken. Hope this helps some bro!

there are strings that are not guaranteed

There are 5 properties to moves. low - mid - special mid - high - unblockable

mids will hit you if you're crouching.
special mids can be blocked crouching or standing and you can also low parry it
