Here's how you beat Akuma

So I was in a tournament with Akuma wiping the floor with everyone. "Akuma is op", "Akuma is one top 3 characters", "even pros say he's top tier" cried the other participants.

Lies, all lies. You just don't know how to play Street Fighter.

When fighting Akuma, you have to play Street Fighter way. What does that mean? Simple.
1. Squat your♥♥♥♥♥♥down and block low. He has lots of combos he can start with low kick. But his specials, such as Shoryuken, Hadouken or Tatsumaki can all be blocked low. And severely punished.

2. What do you when he's spamming fireballs? Sidestep is nearly worthless in that case, you'll have hard time closing in the gap. What do you do? Like in Street Fighter: jump over the fireballs. You'll close the gap and land just in time to block next incoming fireball. You'll see how fast he'll stop spamming them.

3. What do you do when he uses his rage art? It's unblockable, don't even think about blocking it. Instead, just sidestep or jump backwards. Jumping back works even if he's point blank in your face. He'll miss 100% of times. Of course, if your face eats the two punches from the startup of his Raging Demon Rage Art, you are screwed. Unless you blocked them. And then jumped.

There, now you have learned to play Street Fighter style. And believe me, knowing these has already immensely strengthened your defense against Akuma. How you beat him is of course all on you but this basic knowledge should help you out. Have fun!

How did I fare against him in the tournament? I nearly beat him. Nearly. Went to round 6 and then ate an aerial fireball by mistake when we both were down to inches of health. Those are bit trickier to deal with but you can sidestep in that case and dash forward to close in the gap.

I'm not a good player. Last time I played Tekken was T3 on PSX. Just got started few weeks ago.

And I still got closer to beating that Akuma player than anyone else because I have played Street Fighter for years.

I'm not a good player. Last time I played Tekken was T3 on PSX. Just got started few weeks ago.

And I still got closer to beating that Akuma player than anyone else because I have played Street Fighter for years.
