We almost did not get Tekken 7, at all. Harada had to fight Namco to allow it.
They only had a budget for release and season 1.
These features that would never have been part of the base game require development resources and this means money.
I am not a fan that this was paid, and I was actually blocked on Murrays twitter for calling them out on some of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but its better than the alternative of no replays, and no post release support.
In the past we got maybe one patch and that was it. then the game was left to die. I know what I would prefer...
If tekken 8 comes out and frame data is not part of the base package, then we have a problem....
I very rarely speak about dlc or the business trends of Namco... I again fail to see how a personal opinion on something that ultimatly will not affect you ( how would you know if I didnt say I had it) somehow affects if I am level-headed or not. Like I have said multiple times, it is a crappy way to give out a standard feature, it should have been in the base game. But it wasnt. It wasnt included because ultimately Harada didnt want it in. Be mad at Harada. I dont understand why people will resort to name calling to try and get their point across.
It doesnt strengthen an argument by calling people shills, corporate lapdog, sellouts, etc. It just makes the boards more toxic.
I dont ask what other people have paid for their copy of the game, if they are family sharing, if they got it from a key site, or if they sailed the seven seas. I dont ask if they bought their game at launch, as a super deluxe statue included edition or if they got it from a discount bin, if they got most of the dlc from humblebundle at a discount, used a coupon, or other methods. It doesnt matter. These arguments never go anywhere.
Discussing the topic is fine, but fighting and throwing names around isnt. Keep it clean. Even if I am wrong, it hurts your argument.
I love tekken. I have played it for many many years and I support the game and its team. I wish the dlc and frame thing didnt happen the way it did. But it happened. I didnt like it.
If me supporting the dev's and the publisher (I like other games Namco produces) is grounds for name-calling and attacking me personally, or allows others to challenge me on my mental ability to understand economics...I dont know what to say, you got me.
I previously posted most of these same sentiments and thoughts. I agree.
With that logic, if I post at all one way or the other in many threads on this board that discuss debatable topics, is that supposed to solidify my position forever? Another strange concept.
I agree with many statements on both sides and can see both sides of the debate. That's where my "neutrality" comes from.
The whole point of a debate is to place your findings and thoughts on the table and see if any other's ideas, opinions or thoughts/experiences might change your mind or the minds of others.
They also give the option to buy it for "tip money" as a DLC to those fans who hate the new characters and don't have money to buy "expensive" DLCs to support them buying those.
Nobody really needs these frame datas to play the game on average level Its not essential to enjoy and play the game. Its like having spreadsheet about the exact damage datas and bullet spread of weapons in a competitive FPS game.
The way I see it If you are really so dedicated to learn frame datas you can do it easily without this DLC . Its there as a payed DLC to support the developer if you like their game so much you are willing to dedicate hundreds of hours just to learn these datas.
"Bad bussiness" practices .... If some can't see why its different than other P2W dlcs and dlc practices made by greed than I am sorry but I think you are very narrow sighted.
If they would be really greedy than they would not charge for something the majority of tekken7 player don't really need but instead they would charge for much more needed features like replays .
You can say "but its a standard feature in other fighting games". The thing is it was not a standard feature ever in tekken. There are standard features here what is not standard in other fighting games like Sample combos and it has much more use for a beginner than "useless" framedata they won't care or even understand.
