How long did it take you to become a decent player?
im kinda a new player and its so frustrating getting rekt every game even at blue ranks, but getting rekt is a good thing because it makes you learn from your actions. So how long did it take you to become a decent player?

Do what everybody do, blame it on smurfs.. you are losing to blues cause they are filthy smurfs.

I can tell you that around 50~60 hours don't cut it for me and I'm still terrible, I think I need to learn how to string properly.

I'm 1500 hours in and I'm nowhere near decent. What does "decent player" even mean? One that doesnt get rekt every round? Sure then I'm "decent". Good? Not even close. For the record, you'll get rekt no matter the amount of time and effort put into it. That's a fact. The only thing tha varies is the amount of times.
idunno t7 was my first game too I played 300 hours and made it to red ranks just keep playing watch guides and good players playing with your character

Depends what you consider to be "decent".

I started taking TEKKEN seriously during T6, I've always held onto the idea that as long as I'm focused on improving, and that I understand my faults, I'm considered decent.
Same goes for any game, though, really. It's all mental.

The skill gap for this game is far too wide and mostly arbritray for me to really judge a players level.

Otherwise you'll just get bummed out you aren't as good as other players despite the hours you put in.

Ex-Pro Player "NIN" has said once, that it takes around 2 years for a Korean(!) to get good at Tekken. For a regular human, I'd say about 2 years to be decent at Tekken.

300 hours on PC, 100 hours on ps4 and im still trash. Sorry, hope you fare better.
Both with MKX and here when I hit the 1000 hour mark there and here I started to feel I might reached the next level above rookie. I am still learning new things every week. Its a neverending process. I am slow learner so I thought I might become decent level player after about 1000 hour in both fighting game. :D

But decent is relative. Its all about your own standards.

When i understood the framedata i guess.. i knew which moves had + frames, how to abuse the low - frames, which moves were safe and which ones were unsafe... then i didint simply throw out random moves, i knew which ones specifically for which and i can invent my own set ups on the spot.

To OP and others:

I am willing to help anybody (non-a$$hats) that wants basic TEKKENomics classes.

Class syllabus includes: frames, flowcharting, spacing, movement, oki basics, punishment, command buffering, Chicken-buffering, Defensive tech. and anything else that seems appropriate based on the student in question.

Office hours are posted:

I am not God-Tier, but i know enough to get you out of Baby-Blues and through to Orange atleast. It takes time and there is NO shortcut to truly learn this game properly. I haven't ranked since the start of Season 2. I am currently Overlord if that crap matters to you.
