Lets talk stages
Anyone else feel like tekken 7's stages are lack luster in comparison to previous titles?

at least they are not burred like in Soul Calibur 6 or low-res 30fps like in Street Fighter V lol
But yes, some of stages sucks compared to stages from some other tekkens - some of T7 stages are dope, some generic ones not (devil pit, precipite of fate, brimston fire, wtf?)

Yes, there's only a few nice looking stages with some detail. All the volcano stages use the same assets. Other stages look like they were originally for testing purposes only and just got put into the game, like geometric plane and infinite azure.
Also Tekken 6 and if I remember correctly even Tekken Tag 1 left footprint/holes in the snow and in Tekken 7 it doesn't, it just screams laziness.
Souq and that war torn map look straight out of CoD with it's drab colors and blue filter, it's horrible imho!

I miss the valley of flowers and the shallow lake filled with white liquid that slowly coats your fighter.

Watching old Tekken Tag 2 videos on youtube I realized that the stages were so much better back then. Lots of detail and not cartoony like Tekken 7 but with a more serious vibe that fits better for the game.
I don't like the new style at all, even the characters looked way better too, like Nina and Anna were way sexier than now. I watched a video and they were on bikini and the shape and animation and everything was way better.

As someone who likes doing screenshots and videos, I can tell the lighting on most stages is boring and too dark. Soft, bright lights are nowhere to be found.

And most stages have brown color scheme, which blends with character's skin, creating low contrast.

There's a reason why TV studios use blue backgrounds. Because it contrasts with warm tones of human skin. And yet there's not a single stage with clean blue or even green backgrounds.

Geometric plane remains the best from vanila stages. But I'm always looking for new mods with better lighting, contrast and less clutter.

The T7 stages are ok but (imo unfortunately) they are all a lot more serious than in previous games. I mean, if you want to talk cartoony, in T6 you had Miguel's tomato fiesta stage, the gravity defying floating rocks with jets flying overhead, the little village with the pigs in the ring and my personal favorite: the sheep stage, always fun punching an opponent into one and making it jump. Hopefully they'll add some more this season along with the new characters.
As for Nina and Anna well... they got old.... spending time outside of a cryo pod will do that to you :)

Stages are functional but definitely the most boring part of T7. Mostly because they are completely lifeless. There's no cool explosions, water effects, lights that move around etc. like in T6 which imho had the best stages.
I like that they're not gaudy AF like in previous games, but they are too boring, yes.

We just need more unique stages, the current pakage is luckster. However, that doesn't mean previous games didn't have some BS stages, distracting ones actually (despite all the Nostalgia i'm seeing here)...
Sheep stage was fun,but it's also trash because you want to focus on your opponent not the moving sheeps, but yeah T6 might have the best pakage in that regard,T7 needs 3-4 unique stages to be at that level.

I think this version of tekken is aimed for ps4 and tournaments. The stages are all kinda boring because they have not a bit of decoration unlike in t6, and the system requirements are relatively low to achieve 60fps because of that and very little fx on both the characters and the stage.

Lili's hair movement was pretty in ps3's TTT2. In T7, her hair..... You can compare later, just do a search in youtube.

Tekken Tag 2 , Tekken 6 had better stages than t7 imo , also tekken 5 kinda , tekken 7 you feel like the stage design limited and stuff , you dont know why tho

Nothing screams lazyness in T7. Please for the love of god, take into consideration that this is their first game in UE4. The artists don't have much experience with the engine, so that in itself limits the things they can do. At this point im surprised that we even got Tekken Bowl.

Wassup with UE4? i thought game companies moved to UE4 cuz of its facileness.

If a company worked with a propriatary engine, tools, etc. for 20+ years, switching DCC's, regardless of how easy they are to use, is not easy. There is a reason game studios and vfx studios still use abandonware such as XSI. UE4 is nice and all, but you still need people that have the experience if you want them to do good work.
