Thing is though, if you treat newbies that way you're making them more likely to drop the game indeed. Especially if you tell them expliclitly that they're wasting their time and money. That means you're potentially reducing the player base and harming the game you enjoy.
Your behaviour is therefore irrational.
So it’s just always best to fight people +-2 Ranks to gain the max amount of points.
I see you find it "garbage"(unfair?) because you beat someone lot higher ranked than you than get less point than beating someone around your rank. But....
If you would gain a lot more points of beating someone a few rank higher above you compared to beating the same ranked player than that higher ranked player must loose or gain(what would be silly obviously) the same point in case of loosing/winning or else the system would be unbalanced but to keep it balanced it would need to be illogical also giving the player more points for beating a lower ranked player than beating the same rank(the higher the difference the more point you gain) and without balance(gaining loosing the "same") there would be an opportunity of boosing.
But the system "must use logic" so lets say the higher ranked loose more but gain less against lower ranked players . So lets see....
A few rank difference is not a huge difference in skill so with a system where a higher ranked player would gain less in case of winning but loose more in case of loosing (the risk and the reward would be different) so probably most of the players would want to play against higher ranked players where they could gain a lot of point with little risk of loosing their current rank while the higher ranked player would gain very little from fighting lower ranked players with high risk of loosing their rank so they would probably find a way to skip these fights because it would be an unfair risk/reward.
The ranking system we have currently gives you to opportunity to test your skills against higher ranked (+3) players at ranked match without the risk of loosing much and the higher ranked player might be willing to play with you a long set and its a good thing I think.
It should just tell you that if you play X it's a complete waste of time.
Not everything the system does is actually logical.
At grand master rank if you beat a brawler you get a small amount of points compared to if you actually beat a +-0 or a -1/-2 -- same for losses, you do lose less to brawlers but if you beat them you need to beat them 3+ times to recover from a single +-0/-1/-2 loss.
I have friends who i invited to play tekken, and they are mostly busy, and they dont have the time to invest getting their butt owned and questioning stuffs that doesnt make any sense, weird frame datas and strange hit boxes, they wont put up with the BS of the game. They play games to relief stress, they are not going to find dedication to put effort into this game when learning curves between characters vary.
The characters in Tekken arent even that great and worthwhile to invest in. I for one played Tekken since Tekken 2, so i grew up with Tekken and i invested some of my growing years in Tekken, but it wont find new audience everytime they are gonna get beat down, with trash tutorials and stupid story mode that humiliates the characters instead of letting us know about them.
I play these characters and watched all their endings, its sad how Namco takes a big dump on their characters, refuse to put in Tekken Force mode, bring back legacy characters and properly balance the game, they put in all this crappy DLC characters like Noctis that has weird mechanics and Geese and Akuma with death combos. Trying to cash in the fame of a character from different franchise, just lazy and Akuma doesnt even fit in the Tekken universe. It ruins their own world, im invested in the Tekken world, not the stupid SF world.
Yeah i know the fundamentals of the game, i can beat them cheap characters, when you have a real weird character that does weird thing and you cant even retaliate after blocking because it takes 3 to 4 games to study the frame data and hit boxes, by the time you win the 4th or 5th round, they guy quits and you are left only winning 1 game and the other dude leaves with winning 4.
Rinse and repeat and you will see him reach high rank, but play them in quickmatch and they dont even know how to block, and these guys are Orange to Genbu ranks with Eddie spamming the same moves over and over again and quitting after one round.

Lemme show you how a real ranking should work.
You beat a Tekken God prime in Beginner rank, you get promoted to Tekken God prime right away.
Loses 2 fights and demotion. Lol???
R.i.p Season 1.
Tekken Online Ranking System is almost the same since Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.
Check my Ranking Guide (linked above) to know how it works exactly.
