even if you could you don't want to, the game revolves around being synced to 60fps, all the moves are calculated on the amount of frames it takes to come out, recover etc. And it is only calculated to 60fps. Eg, a 15 frame move is 15/60 frames.

well.. having more FPS is ALWAYS better

you are 1st dan aren't u?
Having more fps than 60 is not helpfull in tekken. It's all about frame data. Listen to GungZA

No, in fighting games the actual animations are tied to the frame rate being maintained at 60fps

No, the game logic is tied to the frame rate being 60fps, like all other fighting games
How about 120 fps?

There's no way to get higher fps. Even if you could it would most likely cause the game to completely glitch out. Generally all fighting games are capped at 60 fps to maintain the integrity of the mechanics.

Isn't Turbo Battle just an artificial version of that? And considering how it straight up breaks certain things (Akuma can combo off of DPs in Turbo Battle IIRC) and makes certain combos impossible for most people to perform it's no surprise fighting games don't go higher by default.

ok then ty all i guess i'll stick with this 60 then ..

Yeah exactly. Until consoles can maintain a solid 120 fps, at least, they won't change the way they program these fighting games. 60fps is chosen because it's attainable by all platforms

If you play turbo battle in treasure mode, then you will get a good example of what tekken does when its fps goes over 60. However, if tekken did go over 60 then physics would work as normal, unlike turbo battle. Skip to 7:18

I honestly want the framerate uncapped. I'd rather play at 144fps.

It wouldn't speed up the game wtf, mechanically the runs 60 fps, it doesn't mean that if we exceed the 60 frames cap then moves would be fast coz they would still take the same amount of frames, they wouldn't. Frames are used as time unit and fg are capped on 60 for convinience, that way the time unit stays stable, if you go to 30 it won't slow the game by half, it will just skip each frame of animation, and stuff can hit on the frames that aren't displayed, you just wouldn't know untill the next frame, we are talking refresh rate, not a processor lagging behind. That is unless the games port got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up real hard, that could be seen with old games or modulators playing games that assumed usage on a single platform that wouldn't exceed certain fps. The game could simply speed up. Thats not the case with tekken 7 and likely a vast majority of fighting games you will find. What ppl say here is plain wrong. While it would be nice to play with higher fps, there is no urgent need to, animations run 60fps and everyone rolls with it, sorry but with that i cannot help, just came here to call bs on the game running faster misconception.

Since everything in tekken is tied to the frame rate, the game would run at more than twice the speed.
If you don't like the screen tear (the only reason why 144hz monitors are even a thing), you can add vsynch or better, fast vsynch that solves this problem.
I am really not sure what to say about the tear advice, vsynch sure is amazing for fighting games, coz who cares about input lag imma right ?... lol, Im just gonna assume you meant gsynch but didn't know the name.
Regarding why 144hz exist, its coz they actually make a difference, better refresh types solve issues ppl have with low fps, making low refresh rates look better then ever, but unless you really don't want to notice the difference between 60 and 60+ fps, you will ,nomatter if you deal with tearing.
