Is d/f+1 better than 1?
Hi

I'm a still a noob at this game so watch a lot of youtube videos. In a lot of those they say to use d/f+1 to bait out a rage art. According to my character's frame data(Hwoarang) d/f+1 comes out in 13 frames and is -1 on block, while 1 comes out in 10 frames and is +1 on block.

To me, it seems like 1 is safer than d/f+1, so is there a reason to use d/f+1 more?

Thanks...

Depends what you're using it for. People usually use d/f1 to stop their trigger-happy opponents from pressing a lot of buttons (since it's a fairly quick option to counter a fancy barrage of mids and lows).

However, I would say that it's a terrible option for baiting a Rage Art, mainly because the RA apparently gains Super Armor after its 8th frame. So, if you do throw out a d/f1 at the end of the match, and your anxious opponent is hellbent on using his comeback button as soon as he sees your character doing an attack animation, your mid punch will hit and it will deal about 10 of damage, while your opponent armors through it and shoves 60 of damage and a 15 second long cinematic down your throat.

Normal jabs are much more reliable to bait out Rage Arts. If you're far away from the opponent, you can also try dashing in and suddenly stopping in front of him (just be sure not to stop RIGHT in front of him, as this may trigger a tackle or an ultimate tackle, which will both make you eat the rage art), majority of trigger happy begginers will use their RAs as soon as they see their opponent approaching.

Most d/f+1 are mid-pokes. You can bait it out sometimes if you have enough time to recover from it and same with jabs.

10 Frame Jabs and d/f+1 is used to poke and check their tendency. If a mid-poke is -1 on block then you have 3 choices.

1: Keep doing mid-pokes but will be beaten out by any move that is 13 frames or under.

2: Jab to gain that +1 Frame Advantage but will be beaten out by their own i10 jabs.

3: Go for an High Crush Low Attack if they are gonna jab you. Or if you’re feeling frisky then go for a sidestep then whiff punish if they moved.

They're both good. You use them to setup your offense. Jab is a high, gives you plenty of plus frames on hit, and gives you +1 even if they block it, mean if you jab again right after, it will be faster than if they were to jab in response for example. However, jabs are highs, and can be ducked, so you use df1 to hit people who duck. You're plenty + if it hits, and if they block it, you can still sidestep, or even try to throw something fast like a jab if they follow up with something slow. Use these tools to setup the rest of your moves, like blocked 1 jab into CH jab string, or df1 on hit into whatever.
1 is high d/f+1 is mid and its not safer because you will be punished with any low profile move.

I guess d/f+1 is the safest poke for most of the characters in this game.

df1s are overcentralised

1 is a high for every character so it can be ducked. d/f+1 is a mid most of the time so the only options are sidestep/walk or block. Also -1 is not too big of a disadvantage so you can still use movement to provoke a whiff

1 jab has no tracking and is a high so it is prone getting ducked or sidestepped.
while df1 for most chars atleast track to one side and is a mid so they can't evade it.

if either of the move gets armored through the rage art usually both recover fast to be able to block the rage art

df1 is -1.. and its usually 13f start up.. which means the next move you do is 12f.. and very few moves have 12f..if you do a down jab, especially the female characters have a move that can crush it...

d/f+1 is in general a character's fastest mid poke with some tracking. You can duck a 1 jab and retaliate with a while standing move or crouching jab, but a d/f+1 will stuff that maneuver

In higher ranks poking is gonna be crucial. Have you ever seen those Koreans? Death by pokes and they always playing it safe.

*poke, poke, breaks your leg, pokes, pokes, breaks your leg again*
