You're not punishing right at all so of course he'll keep pressing buttons if it keeps hitting you.
Check him with 1,1 and confirm it with a 2 if it hits. Ws4 is your fastest ws move, use it to punish.
That video just shows us your skill level, and it's not that good
I never saw you punish Katarina's punishable moves on block and sometimes you're using punishable moves in your strings. For example 1:23 is punishable with a 10f move on block, even if Katarina does the follow-up. Try using 1,1,2 when she does this.
Also, avoid using your Rage Art randomly or as soon as you are on Rage Mode. Most of the time it's launchable on block. (Except Hwoarang's due to the huge pushback.)
it's too heavy on resources and can't play on my compact setup. I did a refound.
Here is what I would do if I was in the Kazuya players's shoes...Because let's face it, we have all been here at least once.
1) If you don't know a character's punishable strings...block them and try a jab or Kaz's 1,1. That's it. don't party with other moves until you know how the strings work.
(I have this same problem against underutilized characters sometimes...it happens.).Once you figure out if it is at least 10f punishable or not, quickly try to figure out if you can avoid the string or duck portions of it. You aren't going to win by a huge margin, but you will learn what is possible.
2) whiff punish- There were many opportunities where Kat was hitting buttons and you were nowhere near her. Or she hit you at the edge of a move's range. Backdash and punish that.
3) Use a move or series of moves you know are hard to deal with from your own character. What does an opponent do when they see your "difficult to defend moves"? Do they back up? do they block and punish it correctly? using one or two of these types of moves can let you know what the opponent actually knows about your character. Many low level players on this game promote offense above anything else. If you can stop it with your own offense (counterhits, traps, etc.) you may see that there is a glaring hole in the opponent's own knowledge or defensive understanding of the game. Also jumping hellsweeps (forgot the old name) is not a difficult to defend move. Just don't ever use that... it is bad in every way.
4) Take NOTES. Quickly write some of the stuff that is hitting you down- If you don't know the notation, write down what is looked like (2 highs into a straight punch then a quick knee from Kat for example)
It might not help now, but it will give you ammunition to take into training mode and hopefully figure out what is happening.
(that is a low level frame trap btw-Don't press buttons before the knee)
5)Study what you have found out. This one seems obvious on the screen or on paper, but it normally isn't capitalized on.
I will have to say ultimately that this type of Katarina player is exactly who you should be playing against...They are not a PRO by any means. They are simply a player that knows more about the mechanics in the game than the OP does. That isn't a bad thing at all honeslty. This player will continue to beat you until you show them that the spamming and parlor tricks won't work anymore against you. Once you start beating that type of player you can expand to other characters as well as learning the mechanics and fundamentals of this game along the way.
I have to say that this is the latest of 3 matches (3 loses), the previous were more fought (3 rounds at 1).
When I face a Katarina I tend to Rage, I mean that I get pis sed off "progressively". :-(
It doesn't even happen to me with Negan, or Noctis. Only Katarina and Josie have this effect. Maybe this is because when I started with Tekken 7 a pair of month ago, in Kyu there were A LOT of aggressive Katarina players who didn't knew defense but just pressed the 3 or 4 button (don't know the input for Katarina but I suppose it has one button strings).
I definitely have to pick-up Katarina as pratice mode, and understand its strings, but so far I despise the character so much that I have avoided this.
I have to say that in latest 2/3 weeks I picked up Jin as main (registering some hilarious YT videos related to an Arsenalty call to arms), and I am losing the punishment mode with Kazuya.
The muscle memory was setup on 4, or 1+2. :-)
Ok I start taking note and tracking win/loss with which character
