my take on zafina
This is just first impressions, first time on this character and love the design.

good-
1. stance heavy with mixups
2.a decent whiff punish
3.women(yes)
4.decent crushing counter hits
5.very great range

bad-
1.bad frame data on key moves
2.grab game weak
3.cant block out of SCR and TRA, also wierd way to cancel stance with UB or DB
4.the hand didnt play a significant role in her character despite how cool it is.
5.no 12i punish, but 10i are still decent i guess
6.hitboxes on mantis an tarantula, i feel they should crush mids cuz some mids look like they arent even connecting with the hitbox but hit me anyways.

Out of tarantula you cant be launched, as long as you dont get hit on ch! So thats a big + in my book

Her stances aren't meant for mixups, they are basically there to make you press buttons at her because you know she can't block, but you don't know what to do about it. That's when she does some crazy CH launcher or crush move.

She does have some good crush moves, but basically every move with Zafina is a risky commitment.

She's a high-risk okay-reward character with good wall carry and good wall pressure.

She "sucks" just to make her a less popular choice, which is a real strategy, because that makes other people not know the matchup properly.

idk of wall pressure, but most combos i seen seem to be rly short for 60-70 dmg, unless im just not maximazing my character, which im probably not at this point in the game

I think she decent, got some decent punishes, counter hit launchers and pokes.

Shes not op but not bad

Guys, can anyone tell me if SCR d+3,3 (release d on the 2nd 3 for screw) puts you off axis to the left? It seems liks it. I ask this because I'm having trouble using her b+1 just frame claw move as a filler after that (and the move list says you have to hit the opponent from the front for that one to work)

Bad overall punishment, I can't find any decent punisher under 14frames, so I think all she gets is jab into stance mixups.
Df1, 4 is i13 and wall splats but damage is meh, and not having a good 12 frame punish means people can get way more confident with many moves against you.
No 15f punisher either, but at least has a reliable and quite damaging i14(df3, 4)

I wonder what moves she has to stop pressure, I know how to stop pressure with Asuka, Julia or Josie for exammple but no idea about Zafina.

i think the 13i punish is okay for what it is, its +12 but u can still guard and 10i punishes lead to stance mix ups. the df 3,4 is a small combo with db 4,2 for 49-50 dmg. it sucks that we dont have a 15i punish, definitly a negative but i can get over it

Yeah, she definitely isn't good at punishes, but it's fine I think, she's like Anna, high risk high reward, you gotta confuse your opponent and make them guess wrong if you want to get anywhere.

Still Anna seems to have more tools to stop people from harassing her, I really like Zafina but I think I'm going to stick to Julia for now. Too much stuff to learn after being away.

I'm kinda bummed that her combos have to end in a just frame move that doesn't give oki or wall carry at all because of the switch side thing. I mean, if I have to pull a just frame every time I end a combo at least make it worth my while... but that is not the case, her combos are average with bad wall carry.

No block on stance, 99% of lows are launch punishable, 99% of moves are -12, -14 or worse.
Terrible overall.
Lab her once and you can poke her out of stance with a fast low every time she attempts to enter stance.
Combos are also just meh.

Her stance "mix ups" are weak, unless they end out of stance it's not safe and launch punishable.

Damn her scarecrow launcher is some really good move.
i14, armor move and only -13 on block.. I'll take that thanks...
Gotta respect her stance.

Maybe Im missing something and she cant block because it ends up in stance?sounds too good on paper

If you hold back it doesn't end in stance.
But it's still punishable.
