Why is the character selection time limit at ten seconds?

I probably missed something, since I've only recently started playing Tekken 7 more online, but I feel that the ten second character selection time limit is ridiculous. It's not that big a deal if you already have one or two characters you focus on and just want to get in on some hardcore matches, but if you're just just having fun playing with some friends (which is one of the main ways I suspect private sessions are set up for... it's how I use it), and/or you have several characters, each with multiple custom profiles, it can get frustrating trying to get to that character and the particular look you want before the time runs. It's even worse if you haven't made up your mind who you are picking next before the character select screen comes up. I can understand if this limit was put in place for quick play matches, as random players are probably not going to be inclined to wait forever for you to pick a character, but you are usually playing with people you know in sessions, and they are usually more lenient about that sort of thing. But for some reason, Tekken 7 has this other way around... you have all the time in the world to pick for random fights, but are stuck with ten seconds when playing with friends. It just seems backwards to me. I've tried to see if there was a way to change that in the options menu, with no luck, and it's become an annoyance for my friends and I. Hell, even EVO gives competitors more time to pick their characters. I feel like I'm missing something here: is the ten second time limit something most Tekken players actually wanted?

Don't get me wrong... it's not like this is a deal breaker for me or anything. But it's something that's been bugging me.

It simply is?! Do you really need more than 10 seconds to choose a character? It's a huge waste of time when playing online since there is no way to communicate why there is a hold up in the first place. The loading time itself are horrible and if that would be addressed that in itself would be a huge quality of life improvement.

its just a traditional arcade thing. ive played games that dont have that sorta time limit on character select, and tekken is probly the only game thats had it be so short even for player lobbies, but it doesnt really bother me that much

is it really something wrong with the community? most fighting game players know who they're going to play when they get to character select screen.
