Higher level of play you won't be getting chainthrows off successfully to often. They are easy to read and easy to break. All of our chains come down to one of three breaks, 1, 2, or 1+2. Get used to them getting broke. If you wiff your throw and they charge, time to mix up the throws becuase they do not know the actual breaks.
Before you complain about the 1+2+3+4 thing though, once you start a chain throw, King players can mash all four buttons to continue that chainthrow without knowing the actual inputs.
Sooooooooooooooo..... evens out I guess. But you can tell the masher Kings becuase their chain throw will be the same 90% of the time. lol
I mean its not that they break chain throws. They break the throw itself at any rate any time
it's just something you'll have to deal with unfortunately, it's instinct for them to mash those buttons in the hope for the chance to escape. This game has been out for a bit now, you're going to encounter more and more people that use techniques like this becuase hey, sometimes it works.
However, if you can bait them into mashing buttons by missing your throw, you should be able to punish them quite brutally after they start that charge animation. I suggest the 3+4 with no follow up command to ge tthem to charge like you say, then punish at charge.
Sounds you don't know the break either! I didn't either for a long time, but I suggest learning them, and switching up your chains accordingly, they breaking with 1 to much? Start it up different, they'll want to hit that 1. Our chains are multipathed for this reason. Rely on the same sequence without mixing up the chain and you'll find it gets broke a lot more often.
Learn the reversals, mix it up. Here's a simple chart for the throws and the break for each.

Random buttons lol. It's simple. If the hand closest to you is what they grab you with it's a 1 (Square for PS4, X for Xbox) break. If the hand furthest from you is what they grab you with it's a 2 (Triangle for PS4, Y for Xbox). If they hug you it's both of these buttons together. For chain grabs you need to go to the lab and figure out what button breaks at what point, or just look up a guide about it.
