Blocking explained? Help
Hi,

Now.... I get how to block.. just by walking backwards, but how do people block while standing still? pfft i've had this one guy online block my Rage Drive move while upside down mid air, he blocked every single one through 15 rounds >_< it was asif my opponent just had block on by default unless mid attack.. it was really unfare lol

I started thinking and either there is some kind of cheat, "Or" Maybe XBox controller just sux for the game..?

The Directional buttons are on a single plate so you can only press 1 direction at a time.. Might this be what's stopping me? Like, in order to block and stand still do you need to be able to press both back and forward at the same time?

Maybe I need to work out how to change some controller buttons around... or assign one of the trigger buttons to be both back and forward move commands at once... if this is what's going on... I honestly have no idea what's going on lol

Any suggestions?

To block while standing still...litterally do nothing.

That's it. I am not kidding, either.

Standing blocking stops mid and high, but not low. Crouch blocking blocks lows, grabs, and dodges highs, but medium hits.

You're hurting yourself using a xbox controller for any fighting game.

If you like it. Don't listen to Hawney.

Prefrences are prefrences. Try Fight Sticks, Keyboards, and Controllers. See what fits you best.

this.

if you have played lots of games on keyboard, and you have a keyboard that does not drop inputs [anti-ghosting] then keyboard is a solid option.

the xbox 360 has a horrible D-pad though. out of the 20 or so controllers i have played with its easily one of the worst d-pads. the xbox one d-pad on the other hand is pretty good,

if you are really into controllers as your go to for input, i would reccoemend the hori pokken nintendo switch controller. its cost is really low, but the d-pad is quality and simple layout works great for tekken

I played on Xbox 360 controller and I was just fine.

In fighting games arguably the most important thing about controllers is the D-PAD - the direction buttons.

The xbox 360 pad has pretty big D-PAD so you have to do the inputs in a little bit exaggerated way so you input exactly what you want. Its also one big block so you can easily misinput directions. But its doable. I got used to it and my inputs were fine.

However the playstation Dualshock has smaller D-PAD which makes the inputs easier once you get used to it (which takes a little time). You need smaller motions to get what you want and also the direction buttons are a little bit separated so there is slightly smaller risk of inputting the wrong thing (like down instead of down/forward for example).

If you like the game invest in a fightstick.
Controllers for sports games, steering wheels for driving games, HOTAS sticks for flight sims etc. (as a loose guide anyway)

If you can try and make the swap to the fightstick for fighting games it will make a difference to your play, just because you can use a keyboard or a controller for tekken dosent make it the best choice.
Or even try to use one for a bit before buying one but definatly look into it if you are a tekken fan.:lol_tk::yeah_tk:

Dont just stand. Keep pressing back while blocking. There are moves that neutral block cannot shield you from, instead pressing back guarantees that you wont get launched by some of them. Also, you may notice a white glow around the character that you may think as a block but it's not. In reality, that is an armoured move. Armoured moves penetrate other attacks and hit regardless.

IIRC, those Armor moves can be countered with a Low attack?

Indeed. But you need a read first. Good luck countering them on reaction.

Thats not true, i have instances where i just stand still and do nothing and still get hit.

I wasn't aware that some moves bypass neutral block.

I don't neutral block, so I just assumed it was under the same rules as backblocking.
