How to check global ranking?

So I wanted to see a friend's and my ranking on global leaderboards but I can't see them. I hit the friends button on ranking but is says "There is no one on this ranking". I tried looking for mine but I can only do it if I select a specific character. I can do it on ps4 fine, is it because of the steam usernames?
