Thoughts on Jack-7

What do you guys think of his style, offense and defence?

Is he OP and a braindead character with his simple but strong moves?

You're not completely wrong, but it's actually the guy who went against my Jack-7 who complained that he was an unbalanced and braindead character.

I'm wondering if anyone thinks the same way, because I'm unsure what's so unbalanced of a simple character like jack-7.

iirc every character generally has some kind of edge against jack 7. thats why it was such a surprise that saint won EVO with him

jack 7 isnt very popular online, though. like lee, i dont think ive fought enough that i need two hands to count them in my 300+ hours of playing. the dude probably doesnt understand anything about how jack plays, and only knows he won EVO

ah ok, yeah what the other guy said, most consider jack weak yet saint makes him look powerful as hell, a real testament to saint. :)

I see. Yeah, I've only ever encountered 1 Jack player ever in the EU.

The dude also complained about how I was winning with only a handful of moves - another reason he said Jack was so unbalanced. For me, there isn't much in jack's arsenal of moves that are viable.

Jack is a tough solid character really, with some deceptive moves.

According to the Fergus guide:

Pros
Amazing keepout
Strong throw game
Strong whiff punishment
Some of the best low pokes in the game
Can punish certain stuff that most chars can’t with his reach

Cons
Bad sidestep, prone to pressure.
Bigger combos are possible on him due to size
Weak to SSL, has to take risks to stop that.

Recommended for players who like
Defensive oriented characters
Simple and effective poke game
Good throws

Yeah, I have big trouble against pressure with Jack-7. Only option I really know is the crouch jab, and his sidestep is pretty much useless.

If pressure gets to you yeah it's a prob (with anyone online I think anyways)...so idea with Jack is use his stuff and deceptive stuff before they get there.

Otherwise it's time crouch jab yeah I guess.
