Dealing with Nina sidestep-cancelling
Hey guys, as the title says I am struggling a bit with Ninas who sidestep cancel consistently. Basically I don't understand why on high-level play sidestep cancelling is rarely used for pressure, whereas in the Yellow ranks Ninas are applying non-stop sidestep cancelling pressure.

i tried a variety of methods like sidestepping, backdashing and the generic cr.Jab, but to no avail.

Should I respect their pressure and focus more on spacing them out?

Have you tried using homing/tracking moves?
Not sure I understand what you're asking here.

I main alisa, and the only "homing/track" move i know (the fastest) is her "4" but i dont think it'll gonna stop her pressure

b3 might work, it's mid and it should be fast enough to stop side steps, or it might just be side walks. I also think d/b4 tracks a little to one side. b1 also tracks very slightly to the right I think.

I haven't played Alisa in a long time so I could be wrong.

Thanks very much for the tips,i'll keep all of that in mind :)
It's always a good idea to space yourself out. You should be trying to backdash out of pressure so that you can begin to turtle and punish stuff

You probably know a thing or two about this already, but obv if you're having a ton of trouble against something, it's a good idea to just keep it simple and work in punishing stuff

what move this Nina player started it from? if its d4,1 cancel. i'm pretty sure you can interrupt it, its really not that threatening you can really move after getting hit by the d4. if its uf4,3 parry the low. if its POINT BLANK ss1 its a lil bit of a guessing game but its really not that threatening. fastest move they can put out is the 1+2 grab which is breakable. the sidestep pressure low is slow as well and not really good on block and on hit.

and if you learn backdashing Nina players will rarely get a change to ss1 you cause its range are really short. i think the only good start up for ss canceling is the ss1. all the others are really punishable or not that good. Nina players mostly do the sidestep cancelling pressure when your back is at the wall.
