Help me understand the rank filtering.
I don't hate the new rank system, I mean, that's the way it should be. but some of my games are just one sided, I get opponents several ranks higher than me. I don't mind playing against higher ranks at all but I want to at least work my way up on my own. and you get less points anyway even if you win. I am not ranting by the way, I just need some clarification because whatever I do it always seem randomized to me.

so I must have done something wrong when filtering opponents in rank.

+2 or +3 only, does this mean I'll get opponents from the same rank up to +3?
and
+3 preferred. now does that mean I'll always get +3 higher than me always?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

If you select only, then you'll get players who are only ranked +-2 or +-3

if you select preferred, the game will still try to match you up with people same rank and +-3, but if there are none, the game will start searching higher and higher until someone is available to fight

it +- not just +. Which means that you will fight anyone in the radius of your rank +- 2 or 3 ranks. So if you were Expert and had it set to +-2, you would fight against Initiate, Mentor, Expert, Grandmaster and Brawler

its quite simple you will get people within 3 ranks of you but another thing to take note of is that you are playing a fighting game, unlike a moba, mmo, shooter, etc, etc that run on servers and have hundereds of thousnads of players on them on any given time they have a much larger pool of players of all varying level of skill to accuratly match you up with, but this is a fighting game no servers only peer to peer so latency off the bat constricts you to a certain region and the most important fact is that fighting games are not popular in the least bit, fighting games have some of the lowest player retention rates of any multiplayer genre you are looking at maybe getting 100-200 players within your region and so match making will be far more leaniant on search criteria

Thanks for all the replies. I think they are all pretty useful.
