You are purchasing a $25 dollar season pass. This is optional. You can refund this.
Most gaming companies will not tell you anything about what to expect as far as DLC goes.
But we know a vague, but strong idea of what's to come. Considering the prices of other games, you really have to admire what they're giving you here:
Average movie ticket price: $8.65 (2 hours of entertainment.)
Overwatch Lootboxes ($20 Worth): 96 Cosmetics (Including player icons and sprays.)
League of Legends RP ($20 Worth): 2800 RP (2 New Champions 850 RP leftover.)
Dota 2 Spendings ($20 Worth): 8 Treasure sets. (You cannot receive an Arcana.)
Tekken 7 Season Pass ($25 Worth): 85+ cosmetic items, 2 crossover complete characters, a new mode--
And that's just what we know so far.
You are not only paying for DLC, but you are paying for development support. The more money spent, the more support the game will receive in future updates. But should they not see much interest, they will likely drop support for the game.
The only arguements that can be had here is whether or not having paywalled DLC characters is a big enough advantage to cause problems. I think that's a valid debate to be had that doesn't need to be hostile.
Naw only the metallic costumes are exclusive to season pass.
You can get the 50+ costumes (pack I guess) on its own.
That's correct. The Packs will be available to buy individually.
Eliza is a pre-order only character, she's not in the standard game or the season pass. If you don't pre-order (and get her for free that way), she will be available to buy one month after launch.
That's exactly right. Well, you're also paying for the characters, definitely. Making a guest character and making him fit into the Tekken gameplay isn't the same as an original Tekken character. But yes, you're ALSO helping retain the dev team on the game for far longer after the game is released, which ensures support that the whole community can enjoy.
Harada himself even had said that they stop support on games 2 months after release because there's just not enough money to spend on a team to cater to their release.
Hopefully, enough people buy season passes to encourage even more support over the years. I'm a long time fan and so far, from what I've seen, the game has yet to dissapoint me.
With any game, there's pros and cons. Tekken 7 is no different. But I feel it's pros outway it's cons.

Regardless of if it's positive or negative, we will have support for at least as long as it takes to get those promised DLCs. Which you could assume to be within 9 months.
Then I'm gonna be very pissed. We already have 2 lame bears and Devil Jin wasting roster slots and a lot of cool characters from previous games are still missing.
But Harada claims his use was low and that our effort isn't enough to warrant him in the release. Though if the fans cry enough they'll add him through a (What I would expect to be) a FREE DLC. As they said they would not make you pay for any classic characters.
Well I wonder if they are referring to accesscories more than costumes exactly...and like the combinations of accessories.
