Does the HORI Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai for PlayStation 4 work on PC?

I see conflicting reviews saying it will work on PC and uses Xinput and has no problems right out of the box, to other people saying it is Direct Input and needs X360CE or JoyToKey to reconfigure the buttons for it to work, which honestly sounds like a hassle and I'm not sure how you would even configure the stick itself.

It sounds like maybe it only works with some games and not others, I don't know. Is anyone using one to play Tekken 7?

PS4 controllers can be configured in steam itself as steam controller. (enter big picture mode)

I guess part of the problem is a lot of the comments/reviews are from last year before I think PS4 stuff got recognized by Steam. Apparently this stick has a PC switch that people say is Xinput but it's confusing. I'd rather not have to go through Big Picture mode if I didn't have to, but I guess it's at least an option.

you only have to do it once to configure the controller.

Do you mean configure it using Steam Big Picture or another program?

I do have a Dual Shock 3 also, can Big Picture recognize it?

No, only DS4.

dalieni, are you on Windows 7? That would be my only concern is if I need to find drivers somewhere. Do you have to go through Big Picture mode too?

Let me start to answer why there are conflicting answers. There are actually 2 versions of the stick which are basically the same except a key different. One has a switch to not only PS3/PS4 mode but also PC which is Xinput that works perfectly out of the box.
The other one only has PS3/PS4 and as such only supports Dinput which requires an extra tool to work sometimes with PC games.
The best thing to make sure it has the PC switch on it is to contact the seller cause they sometimes use images of the verison without

I got the one with the PC switch and it works perfectly with Tekken in both PS4 and PC mode cause this game supports both.

Thanks, I didn't know there were different versions. The one I'm looking at is at Fry's. The only one in stock is the white model, if that matters. I guess I can ask to have a look at it first to see if it has a PC switch. The model number (Model #PS4- 067U) is the same as the Hori site that says it has a PC switch so that looks promising.

as long as it has a DS4 input then it will be accepted by steam big picture, and you can configure it at will.

Hey! I have the other one without the PC switch and mine works great without any thirdparty software. Granted i have only tried it on Tekken 7 but if thats what youre buying it for then i can confirm it works!

Well Fry's is the only store in my area that sells sticks and this is the one they got. Don't really want to wait around weeks for one to ship so I'm going to give it a try and report back assuming they have any left. Thanks everyone.

Alright got one. They must have updated the packaging because the box explicitly said PC switch for Xinput, and also Direct Input not supported at all. I plugged it in, it automatically installed the drivers, I set the switch to PC and it worked without any hassle. So far it's really great, but it's my first stick so it's going to take a while to learn it. So far the diagonals are a lot easier to perform consistently, it's just a matter of the timing.

One thing to be aware of before buying. The stick isn't very secure and "lifts" upwards from it's slot. This means that if you move it in a direction against the edge, it will lift over slightly giving it the impression of an added input. Just saying because my friend bought one and found it very aggravating.

Only complaint I have is there is seemingly no way to map the select button to anything. So I don't know how to put up the moves list in training and select+RB to move to the next one, or select +X to view a demo of it. But I guess that's pretty minor.

I have the same stick. Use the share button on the side, that's your "select" button.
