I'm a Tekken scrub. Any modes to learn how to play?
I hear this one has no tutorial mode sadly.

Tutorial mode ? wut
Go to practice and moves list , then display the moves and practice , you can go to next move by pressing a key ..

There's a practice mode. You can look at the movelist and keep it stickied to the top of the screen so you don't have to keep on pausing and checking the movelist. You have the option of viewing a demo of every move to see how it's done.

If you really want to get into Tekken, your'e going to have to google some tutorials and do some youtubing.

same thing you do in any fighting game, you play and find a situation you are bad at. eg. throws, or you are throwing out random buttons that gets you power crushed, or you punish but can't get the juggle, or you are bad at wakeup.

You go into practice mode and record the cpu to put you in that scenario and you practice what to do to counter that or deal with the situation you are struggling with.

Tutorials in fighting games generally teach you nothing, you learn from playing, practice mode, combo challenges and youtube videos.

Yeah see I'm aware of practice mode. But a lot of other fighting games go in depth with each character in progressively harder combos. I hear this game is lacking that kind of mode.

You got into PRACTICE mode. And there is an option to show a single move from the move list on screen as you try to do them and you go to the next.

1. go to practice mode
2. Select command list
3. Chose "demo" let the comp show you how it is done.
4. Go to treasure battle to test your skill.

Ps: this game can be as easy as you can play, and as hard as you can handle. Spam 1 move when you noob, add 1 more when you progress, in time, you will find that you can link the skills together becoming your own combo, rinse and repeat.

Hmm. I might end up getting this game then. Not sure why I've read that it doesn't have a mode that I assumed most fighting games have.

Thanks.

Edit: are there any advanced techniques taught that a noob should know? Soul calibur teaches you the guard impact for example.

Or if you are a total noob then you can use some scripts.

I know what you mean by tutorial, like Blazblue where other than the basic moves there are a lot of hard combos too that you can practice with commands on screen... well there are a couple here too, but they're not that good, but I understood that coming up with your own combos is much much better. Steve basic combos for example, those listed in the tutorial are hard to land online, the launchers used there are way too dangerous, but I came up with a spin and used a different, more safe launcher and changed a couple inputs and now I have my b&b combo that works with any launcher/counter, easy to land, easy to execute and does a good amount of damage for how easy it is.
So I'd say just go into practice, find an execution of commands that work well both with launcher and counters and then spam it (with basic moves too obviously) until you're better at the game and you can analyze other situations and have timings and ranges down.

Practice mode, learn moves, see which ones are bread and butter then experiment with juggling.

Not really. Besides the Newly added Rage Arts, There's no specific thing that every character can do. Everyone has a unique moveset and you'll just have to choose a character that you think you might like and practice. Go through the moveset, learn the characters ups and downs and have fun.

Like for example, not every character has a traditional counter move where you press the same buttons to do them like in Dead Or Alive...if you've played that lol.

It's very important to master 1 juggle combo, at least. If you manage to launch the enemy into the air, then you must be able to perform the juggle combo smoothly and with no mistakes.
