AND THEY BOUGHT TEKKEN 7.
Because, it's does not belong here. =\
Bandai Namco doesn't do that though. We have Tales of Berseria that still uses it months after it became useless, and God Eater does as well when it's worse than useless since they screwed up with the implementation and it actually causes problems for more than just a few of us who have a history of Denuvo issues.
It's not stopping pirates with either of those, but it cancelled my pre-order on both, and I only bought God Eater when I picked it up for 90% off and I'm waiting for Tales of Berseria to fall that far in price as well.
Meanwhile I'm playing the heck out of Toukiden 2 and Ateliere Firis, both games I pre-ordered, and bought on Vita as well. One of which I've picked up all the DLC on both PC and Vita.
So why am I willing to spend $120 on another game, but cancel my pre-order of a Bandai Namco game, and stay grumpy about it even at 90% off?
They've gone Full Square Enix.
Overdo it on anti-piracy scamware, then never patch it out, not even after it has been broken and isn't protecting anything anymore.
I've played Tekken 7 on PC at gamescom 2016. It ran absolutely flawless (E3 2016 build was demoed there, probably withouth Denuvo).
Tekken 7 is going to see 2 DLCs, the latest in "Early" 2018. After protecting important sales for a while, I wish, that with the second DLC, Denuvo gets removed. For their paying customers.
Not the first. What about Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield 1?
That's what I've been asking for since they started using Denuvo and, despite all of the other Bandai Namco games being cracked months ago, they still haven't pulled it from any of them.
Not even God Eater where it REALLY needs to be removed.
To be fair it's not just Bamco not removing it, most Publishers don't.
So, it's very realistic to me, that if we are loud enough, that Namco might consider cutting costs and remove Denuvo for future updates, which we might receive with future DLCs. Denuvo costs money and they need to re-evaluate their cost / benefit by then. Denuvo's selling point at the moment is, that it protects early sales, which I totally understand and respect. However, by early 2018, paying for Denuvo might not be sensible anymore, as its use by then is questionable (given Tekken 7's Denuvo is hacked by then - which I totally believe).
True. Still, that's typical EA. Their business practices are: "release and forget. Oh, and shutdown servers 2 years after release."
On the other hand, we have Dark Souls 3 from Bandai Namco, which is an absolute success and also focuses primarily on multiplayer. Never heard of any pirating issues. Doesn't use Denuvo, just Steam DRM. Steam DRM is more than enough for multiplayers and is broadly accepted by the community.
