Game Exit Screws Up All Windows or Black Screen

When the game exits it doesn't seem to be setting the old screen resolution correctly. I either get a black screen and can't do anything or more often any of window that was open will be smaller and I have to full screen them all. Anyone have a fix for this? It's super annoying. Playing in a window seems to work but that isn't very fun.
