Issue with Just Flight Piper Arrow III - Engine won't start?

I've been having issues with the Piper Arrow III DLC in which Just Flight tried to implement an engine management mode to add to the 'realism', but unfortunately over the last couple of days has left me unable to start up the engine.

When initially loading, everything is fine but then the aircraft will try to load the former panel state, causing everything to shut down and die on me. I've tried using the in-game menus to maintain the engine, doesn't help it. I've tried disabling the engine management option all together, doesn't help it. Tried reinstalling it a couple times? Nope.

Looking into the configs itself, a file named 'JF_PA28R.cfg' located at 'FSW\DLC\630911\_DLCConfigData\AppData\JF_PA28_Arrow\FSW' which does include a few options to disable this, but still to no avail on restart. It's also not a local problem, FSX and P3D users who own the Arrow III also have the same thing, meaning it is a Just Flight issue and not a Dovetail one.

Does anyone have any ideas for a fix?

I haven't tried the engine management mode yet - will follow this thread to see if there is any resoltution to the issue.

Just Flights startup procedure and FSWs startup procedure seem to conflict with each other.
If I want to use Just Flights startup I first open FSWs checklist by clicking on the book on the dash and then closing it without using it.

Slew mode to the f*cking rescue! 😂

I remember back in FSX when you used slew mode to spawn an aircraft in the air with the engines off, it will turn on all systems! Still works in FSW like a charm. :3

Still would like this looked at however at some point, knowing others do have this issue cross-platform.

I am with you there Drawyah. I think all aircraft should spawn in hot to trot easy mode unless the user otherwise specifies. Not impressed with having to fiddle around in the aircraft when all I want to do is fly thru nice scenery. I know others think otherwise but I believe most of us do not want full real aircraft.

I do agree with that. Maybe it's the first step in that 'FSPassengers' career mode we're meant to see in the future, but it should be something to opt into rather than to opt out as it does lead to the said complications I and other have been having.

They have a button in the upper left corner of the screen that pops out a number of buttons. In those buttons is a button to the left side that starts the engine and puts the plane into a flight configuration. You can click the button again to put it into a cold and dark configuration.

You can, it shuts itself off again. A lot of add-on aircraft such as anything from Aerosoft, PMDG and some JustFlight you cannot turn on with that method depending on their setup.

If you turn off Cold and Dark start before loading the flight, the plane does load in easy, hot to trot, ready to fly with the engines on mode..... What's the complaint if that's already in FSW? And Cold and Dark is off by default, unless you turned it on once. Then Free Flight remembers your last flight...

Hi Theohall, I am not normally adventurous but it is possible I might have turned that cold and dark on once but not before I selected the Arrow III. However it appears the Arrow is working fine now in dumbed down mode so no complaints really.

Just in case if useful for anyone flying already with FSW and having issue on this :

i'd get a red error message today saying the CFG file doesn't exist
uninstall/re install : same situation

as i'm launching Steam in administrator context but flying with FSW in my session
the following folder structure "\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\JustFlight\JF_PA28_Arrow\FSW\PanelSave" wasn't there and therefore should be re created using this location "\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSW\DLC\630911\_DLCConfigData\AppData\JF_PA28_Arrow\FSW\PanelSave"

in fact the first install of PA-28 Arrow was running as Administrator so the folder structure already exist in Administrator profile

so after copy past in the right location as detailed above, all is ok now and the init was done with a green ending message
