EGS Exclusive Sequel
Horizon Chase 2 is out now... only on EGS.
Epic bought the dev, so it's a permanent exclusivity.
Additionally, all console releases will mandate an EGS account to play them.

these devs are dead to me, lmao. sellout scum.

its a store... sellout scum for selling their company and making good money? jesus you are what we normal people call a horrible person.

Dead to you because its on a different store as if its difficult to launch. I thought steam had a certain age you had to be before you could use it and post in forums...

Out of spite im going to buy 3 copies and gift 2 of them on steam to people who dont act like they are 3 years old.
someone hasn't done their homework - it's not about the inconvenience of another store.

As someone who worked in HC2, this comment made me kinda sad. Epic buying Aquiris was the biggest influx of cash Brazil has ever seen in the local gaming industry, it made a beloved and proud company lots and lots of money, making sure that this company still makes quality games and improved the country's portifolio as a whole.
And by purchasing Aquiris, we can say that you can work in Fortnite, and other AAA games without needing to move out of your hometown even. Its a net positive for the worker.
Yea we can talk a lot more about epic owning 70+ studios outside the US and using cheap labour to make games, but you have to see that in Brazil they are THE ONLY big studio around, the only one that is able to give you enough knowledge to grown your carrer.
I understand your frustration but please, think of the devs

I'm assuming that if a major well known corporation approaches you with a job offer that triples your current pay and brings you closer to your goals and dreams in life, you are going to decline and say no thank you and keep on dreaming instead? Of course not.

Aside from that, it's none of your business who these people choose to work for, it's their life. We should congratulate them instead for being able to reach such a huge landmark in game development.

Sure, perhaps bad for you and me, but contrary to what you think the world doesn't revolve around us, other people need to make a decent living too.. if that means we can't play a certain game because we don't like the store, too bad for us. Good for them and it's not like they're the only ones creating games.

So, cool down, take a deep breath and head over to Epic or the game store of your console to get the game. We all know you will do so eventually.

It's good for the dev, bad for the consumer. Hardly anyone will buy the game on Epic, which will contribute to poor sales on PC and ultimately influence if another sequel is made. I don't typically buy games on Epic so I'll have to read up on how well the switch version performs.
Dat Zorro Sep 16, 2023 @ 3:00am
But apparently, Epic didn't pay enough for the Switch-version not being a cheap iOS-port that's ripe with technical problems. :/

And if it isn't just a port, then they clearly didn't have the money to optimize this thing for the Switch's hardware.

Se o jogo vier pra Steam, provavelmente a maioria aqui irá compra-lo.

no, actually. i've never paid a cent for epic exclusives, never installed the epic store. have never given in, will never give in. got plenty of good stuff on steam. a dev goes to epic, i keep my word: they're dead to me.

epic is extremely hostile to linux users and open source, and forces their developers to cancel in-production linux versions whenever they sign with epic, meaning they are actively hostile to anyone who doesn't use windows, i.e. me, so ♥♥♥♥ them. never ever.

Well I don't have much stake in this argument, but I bought Horizon Chase 2, and it's just as good if not better than Horizon 1 so great job on that one.

The EGS vs Steam stuff I do understand the argument, but I'm also a fan of competition. Steam is great right now, but in the future someone mentioned the creator being very sick we don't know what could happen.

It really must be quite a heavy sum, considering you know you are are leaving a platform that has an incomparably much bigger user base/potential buyer.

Well, I'm gonna buy the game anyway, but again, it must be quite big a check.

You're a fan of competition and you bought an exclusive PC title that is only sold on one store? Why post?

Also Epic had the Steam version of the 1st game butchered. There are a number of reasons Epic and their store are shunned.

Again I understand the argument, but I buy from both places it's all depending on what might be on sale. I've played games long enough to know how things work. Once upon a time PlayStation was the best console in existence now PlayStation depending on whom you talk with has done a lot of ill-will towards gamers.

I was around for when PS1 and PS2 were unstoppable, and then all of sudden PS3 with the "People should be able to cut lawns to pay for our stuff". (Probably not verbatim but close) also when the changes happened later in PS3 lifecycle that took away features like Other OS I believe it was, and just other stuff period.

I like Steam, but I'm not gonna simp for them like people do with the Playstation vs Xbox vs Nintendo annual wars or whatever.

Consoles are traditional walled gardens primarily due to the ownership of the hardware. The PC is or was an open platform until Epic came along. Critics of Epic want choice and without choice that is anti consumer.

You can argue and make your case but Epic is anti consumer. Valve has built all these wonderful tools and has a store that they invest in for both the publisher and the consumer. Epic could of followed the same path to achieve greatness but no.

With all their millions I truly believe Epic could of built a greater infrastructure than Steam and forced Steam to be more competitive even more so but no. Epic will never achieve what Valve has because they are anti consumer and they are not to be trusted or allowed to succeed.

It's an unfortunate situation brought on by greed and wanting immediate success without investing. Don't be fooled by their free game giveaways. Their intentions are nefarious as demonstrated by their behavior and lack of investment in the entire publisher consumer living breathing dynamic ecosystem. Epic is an inhibiting entity.

I dont have any problem with the devs (as i am one and i know how good is to work to a established company), but seriously, do you think that’s any good removing steam as a platform for releasing your games? Steam have the biggest player base on PC. As i’ve seen people here really cared for HC1 and where in the hype for HC2. Now if one wants to play the sequel, they will have to go against their own principles and buy from a different platform that don’t have the half of the tools and communication present on steam? Or also go for a console release? That doesn’t even make sense. If the game is released here i will happily purchase it, even at it’s full price. But while it keeps attached to epic, me and a lot of players won’t buy the game.

Again I understand the argument, but I'm not really in the fight anymore these days it'll sort itself out. I read more into the Epic store thing, but to be honest 90% of my gaming is on Steam itself make no mistake so don't get too upset if someone like me decides to use Epic 10% of the time. I may have bought so far like 3-4 games on Epic Kingdom Hearts Series of games and now Horizon Chase 2.
