This game won't let me use my controller.
I'm using an 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ (Xbox style x-input controller over Bluetooth USB adapter). The controller registers fine in Windows devices as a game controller and I can use it for other games without issue.

When I start the game I can actually push the A button to advance to the main menu, but then the game reverts to keyboard and mouse only right away. Going into the controller options in my profile, I can change it to using a controller, again pressing the A button, and then all the controls are listed correctly for using the controller, but any input from the controller itself after this point is blocked and when exiting out of the controller menu in the game, it reverts back to keyboard and mouse only again.

I have a similar issue with screen resolutions. If I change the setting to 1920x1080, it will revert to my desktop resolution which is 1366x768.

Any suggestions other than hoping they eventually fix this bug? Maybe there's an override config file I can change the settings in or something?

Well, I got the cartridge for the Switch on order. So at least I'll get to use the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ for that, since the Switch handles the controls. Ironic, as stock controller setups aren't usually a good thing to be locked in with for customers.

:steamfacepalm:

But yeah, let me know if there's a workaround for this game on PC/Steam.

On the plus side, the Switch version is great and makes co-op easy. And yeah, the controller works on it fine there, as I expected it would.

I'm having this same issue, did you ever find a solution?

OK, it looks like in the Steam library I can go into Steam's properties for the game and enable the controller from there. I guess it maps the controller to an emulated controller for the game or something, but seems to work in the game at least, so you might want to give that a try.

Good luck.

And now for whatever reason Steam isn't detecting the controller. so yeah...

Try x360ce it'll emulate a xbox 360 controller for you.

Nothing works. Tried:

Straight launch via epic.
Straight launch via epic. With DS4Windows running.
Straight launch via epic. With x360ce running.
Launch via Steam big picture mode with working controller.
Tried the launch options.

No controller.

When I had gotten it to work briefly, it was showing up as an XBox controller in Steam.

Finally got it to work. Its not intuitive but:
Connect PS4 controller with bluetooth in windows
Shut down steam entirely, close it down
Run straight from Epic store
Then it just works

I've got 8BitDo's USB receiver on order. It uses Bluetooth, but it isn't Bluetooth on the PC USB side of things, just registering as a USB controller, apparently, so hopefully that works for me. My old Logitech F710 (2.4GHz, not Bluetooth) worked for the game, so fingers crossed. I'm having a similar issue in DBZ Kakarot.

I'll let you guys know if it works for me. But yeah, supporting Bluetooth receivers (assuming that's part of the issue) would be nice too either way. It isn't an issue for many of my other Steam games.

OK, I have it working for the time being at least using the 8BitDo USB Receiver. At first it didn't seem like it was going to work and it was kind of a hassle to set up. I had to update the firmware on the receiver with their firmware updater download from 8BitDo's site, then use their Ultimate Software to select a profile and remap the buttons (the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ has Switch button Nintendo style labels) to match the XBox layout.

But yeah, it seems to be working for this game as well as DBZ Kakarot now. It's also showing up in steam as an XBox controller now again, though I'm not using the Steam controller emulation for it like I had tried earlier, as it seems to be working naively with the games now, if you could call it that.

Windows now shows it listed as a different device, an XBox 360 controller directly instead of as the actual 8BitDo controller connected through Bluetooth as an XBox controller.

So yeah, if you guys are using different controllers like this or console ones on PC, it might be worth giving this receiver a try.

Good luck.
