each time I press esc the game makes a new save file with a different number, wtf is this?
And now my 2018 save file is gone, I think it got overwritten on steam cloud. How great...
Tried multiple fixes recommended in other posts such as replacing save file, disabling/enabling cloud saves, reinstalling game etc. but none have worked for me.
Hoping for a fix so I could actually start playing the game.
The game seems to create a save file just fine, but any time I go to title screen (either booting up the game or pressing esc) it makes a fresh new save file, loads it and ignores the earlier ones.
This is the only game in my library that I've had this issue so far.
Sorry for you. I think the game has had a huge update while back which didn't is compatible with old save files. That could happen with games that haven't been played while back.
I think maybe the devs changed something in an update and it messed up for some people, I don't know...
I sure hope it's not the case. That's asking for bad reviews, bad rep, and a hundred lashings in public.
Also, just out of curiosity, I checked my save directory. I've started playing only a few days ago, and I have like 55 files in there ?! Size of the folder is minimal (not even 4 MB), but what could possibly justify that many files for ONE person ?
That's because each time you go from the "press any key" screen to the main menu the game creates a new file. You can check that out!
And that's never trimmed ? I expect the game to accumulate a large mass of save data after a while, if that is the case... Not good.
That said. When it comes to games i'm currently playing and games i'm trying to 100% i usually make manual backups of the save files every time i play or so.
The Steam Cloud can be pretty sketchy and i've had several issues with several games in the past. Save files get corrupted and are uploaded to the cloud like they're legit and you lose the last good save file just like that.
I've also playing this game for a long term and never had issues with the save games. It's obviously NOT the game. Regular game updates won't corrupt save files.
Manual backups are a good idea but won't help, if the save system is changed through an update. There was one big update that renewed the save system in june/july 2019, so I guess that older save files won't be compatible.
That was my first thought, Steam cloud isn't much reliable. It's a cool feature but pretty bugged, IMO.
Well, thats exactly my story.
Bump, devs!
