Thought on the remixed music?
Blazblue music has never been as good as Guilty Gear's (but then, what game music is?) but I feel like a lot of the new music is kind of...all over the place compared to the Continuum Shift / Calamity Trigger versions.

My opinion from other thread. They proved that forcing something into metal can be bad.

That said I like only some of II versions of original songs.
>>Opinion ahead<<
Rebellion, Lust Sin and Bullet Dance, Queen of Rose, Catus Carnival, Thin Red Line, Gale, Condemnation Wings, Blood Pain are mostly the same just have longer intro.
Motor Head is now evil train song lol but overall upgrade to original
Oriental Flower is now darker which is suitable upgrade consiering True Ending in CSE.
Marionette Purple now have electric guitar on front most of time which is downgrade from origianl but it still keeps classic music touch.
Susanooh is now more Japanese and lost agression, it's no longer scary badass theme :/
Awakening The Chaos is now darker and more agressive but otherwise the same.
Gluttony Fang definitely upgrade to original.
Sword of Doom changed choir for single female vocal, music changed in bad way too theme lost it's charm.
Alexandrite lost it's exceptionality as rhythmic, overall guitar covers lightness of theme, downgrade.
Howling Moon guitar riffs are now less prominent which makes theme less badass, downgrade.
Active Angel, I have mixed feelings about this
Plastic Night DAT UPGRADE, badass boss theme right there.
Endless Despair WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ HAPPENED? way to ruin badass theme.
Under Heaven Destruction would be good upgrade if they skipped that one riff that was already annoying in original.
Imperial Code nice upgrade albeit it's hardly imperial now when Jin and Noel are against NOL lol.
White Requiem gothic metal style was lost under unnecessary electric guitar, downgrade.
Nightmare Fiction taking away choir was bad choice, theme feels slower as well, if they made it more like in 0:15-0:25 and 2:42-2:48 of new theme it would be way better.
Memory of Tears violin is defnitely nice addition, guitar at beginning is just bad, dunno.
Childish Killer ehhhhhh it's no longer sad theme, they ruined it with frontal electic guitar if they added only that piano it would be good.
Weak Executioner no srsly I'm not driving on highway while sun is setting...
X-Matic it became faster and more generic, downgrade.

That's my review of mixes, Plastic Night is obviously my champion of remixes and The Tyrant of new themes. Fatal Judge, Silent Scream and The Highlander aren't bad either.
Overall new remixes have way too much electric guitar riffs and solos, they feel very forced in many causes. A lot of them sounds like they wanted to go back to 80s in car on highway. Thankfully I'm playing on pc and [modding intensifies].

Susanooh has definitely lost its balls, but Condemnation Wings randomly breaks into some kind of flamenco guitar...
Penguinator Mar 12, 2016 @ 4:25pm
I like how many Tager matches manage to end while the long-ass intro is still playing.

I honestly like the new version of Sword of Doom. But that's just me. Some of the new songs are kind of boring though.

I like some more than others, but I finally got used to most of them recently, and appreciate some as well as the original, but still like both a lot, or neither generally. I can think of very few I hate but like the original, and only one that I think is objectively better than the original (Sword of Doom 2 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ /phenomenal/, IMO).

I generally like the remixes a lot more than the originals. The sound is far more crisp (especially the drums). The originals in CT and CS were generally not of very good quality - the guitars were far too muddy, and some of the instruments blurred into each other too much. It's somewhat reminiscent of the Guilty Gear Accent Core soundtrack in that sense. The remixes rectify these issues, and the overall experience is far richer and more dynamic.

There are some elements over which I think the originals are better. For instance, the original 'Bullet Dance' bass intro is far more interesting than the mellow guitar in the remix, but the double-pedal assault after said guitar intro more than makes up for it.

The original 'Childish Killer' started off with a really cool harmonised guitar line, I wish they kept that in the remix.

'Condemnation Wings' in general is a very very solid slab of power metal, it's really hard to improve on it. The remix in general improved on the sound quality by far, though the symphonic intro on the original was quite cool to be honest. The acoustic section is a nice touch - the rhythm section still maintains that same degree of tightness, so it's more of a nice touch than an outright detraction.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the changes to 'Alexandrite' and 'Marionette Purple'. The remixes are definitely far more metal. 'Alexandrite' is very catchy, but its usage of a very artificial drum sound in the original hampers it. The remix of 'Marionette Purple' benefited greatly from organ additions, giving it the feel of many of the 70s hard/progressive rock classics. The new riff seems heavily influenced by the Hendrix classic 'Foxy Lady', so it definitely rocks out a lot more now.

'Oriental Flower' had a very nice harmonised lead going on in the chorus. Unfortunately, we lost that with the remix (it's just a single lead guitar playing the chorus). However, we get a very heavy and bad-ass thrashy section in the intro to make up for it.

The brass-heavy intro to the remix for 'Gale' is majestic, and largely reminiscent of stuff like Freedom Call or Power Quest. Always a good thing.

I'm not sure how I feel about the new 'Sword Of Doom'. It's become much heavier, though the original had a few things going for it that helped make it a very solid track: 1.) the vocals were choral and not so up front in the mix, which fit it better in my opinion, 2.) the thrashy section with a lot of snare in it shortly after the chorus is desperate and excellent in equal measure, 3.) the majestic string+power chord part just after the solo was a great way to wrap up that section. That said, the remix is still really solid, so I guess these are minor issues for me.

I think you get the general idea. I largely prefer the remixes by far. The improved sound quality, and the little tweaks to the original tracks make most of them so much more enjoyable to listen to.

Metal is my favourite genre so I'm definitely in favour of the heavier sound and greater emphasis on guitars. Your mileage may vary.

I like most of the new music, although some of it is a little underwhelming imo. Nice change of pace though. And it is not remixed, OP, it has been re-written.

Plastic Night II is GODLIKE. Endless Despair II is generally worse than original but DAT VIOLIN SOLO. Motor Head II is very good too. RIP X-Matic.
Sauvagess Mar 13, 2016 @ 1:55pm
Bullet Dance II is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. Nobody can tell you different. It's like the sequel to Love So Blue, after the reprise of the gorgeous vocals and touching tone it has...it just sweeps in with this level of badass.

I think I prefere the last versions of the tracks, not a big fan of the current astral finish theme, the opening theme and Spirit of fire are still quite good though
Dashiell Mar 15, 2016 @ 7:38am
Oh yeah all astral themes just don't fit as well as Shinsō, maybe it's partially because sfx are so damn loud you cant barely hear music.

I always felt the blazblue ost was enjoyable but a mess of instruments. and that still stands. GG games just have a far tighter more themed feel to them.

I can go from a sad song to blaring guitars with midi trumpets blaring in seconds.

Also while the quality of the songs are higher (in terms of actual audio quality) the intros last far too long.
Salty Cleric Mar 16, 2016 @ 1:46pm
I don't really like how they mixed the tracks, they should release the flac version really the songs sound kinda brickwalled and that sucks, also I hate the keyboard solos (that's a keyboard right? either it's that or a really high tuned guitar) since they don't sound "natural", if you get my drift, well the same can be said about the overall guitar tuning, I don't like it, it sounds kinda dead
Rean Schwarzer Mar 16, 2016 @ 6:29pm
the new remixes are too cluttered imo. some of them have really unnecessary parts like the heavy thrashing in oriental flower II. some arent too bad (such as awakening the chaos II), but some are just UGH.

also the intros are too long. except for Thin RED Line II where they get rid of the intro instead, and i just feel like it starts too unnaturaly.

alexandrite II is actually really good tho ill give it that

I used to be very against the new tracks (save for the tracks for the new characters of course, Silent Scream and Black Aggression ftw) but I've grown very found of the new versions lately. The only tracks I don't like are Active Angel II (but I never liked the original either so no loss there), and Marionette Purple II (once again, I didn't like the original either). The biggest upgrades imo are Plastic Night II (#1 Theme of the Year for #1 Father of the Year), Motor Head II (takes too long to get going though and I miss that bass intro, but still kick ass), and Lust SIN II (love dat intro). Others that stand out as decent/great upgrades/sidegrades are: Endless Despair II, Nightmare Fiction II, Awakening the Chaos II, Howling Moon II, Childish Killer II, and Oriental Flower II.
