one day i wanted to see how blazblue sprites can look in hd so i did this small test a old screenshot i had and ran it with waifu2x

wish there was a way to use this in real time. but i dont think there is, still kinda cool tho

Upscaling whole image is bad way to do it because in game it would be downscaled anyway which would hide all edginess but if you upscale screenshot it just smakes it smoother at best.

They have a shader like this for retroarch where you can do this to all old school games. I asked reshade to put it in their shaders but no one's budging. Here are a few pics. It's called scalefx/scalenx:
