More recently I've been thinking that the toy animatronics were made for a newer location, since the recordings from fnaf 3 imply that there were multiple FNAF locations open at once during the spring suit era.
It could be that the yellow fredbear suit and brown bonnie suit are the "temporary costumes" used following the spring lock failures, but that runs counter to most of the implications so far.
One thing that bugs me is in FNAF 2 the pone guy mentions "they even let them walk around in the daytime." This was one of the red herrings that made it seem like it happened after fnaf 1, but why would that be noteworthy if the bite hadn't happned yet? Perhaps the bite already happned by fnaf 2 and the new animatronics were designed with smaller mouths to prevent that sort of incident, and thus able to wander.
