Scott, How Would You Rank the FNAF Games in Order of Personal Preference?
I would go:
1. FNAF 3 (Such cool and fleshed out mechanics. The story is also amazing and the hidden minigames are so creative and fun and cause great theories)
2. FNAF (The one that I'm best at, it's also got the best atmosphere and the best jumpscares)
3. FNAF 4 (Awesome jumpscares and gameplay mechanics, a little bit easier than the other games though)
4. FNAF 2 (REALLY hard and frustrating, it's still a great game even though it's my least favourite).

I really didn't like the third game because of two things: Springtrap would literally teleport outside your door if you are .81 seconds too slow, and the fact that Springtrap would also never move back to the other rooms when I use the audio cues.

1. FN@F 1
2. FN@F 4
3. FN@F 2
4. FN@F 3

There was something about the first game that was so different in scariness compared to the other games, maybe its the fact that nothing is deliberately spooky or gory, it's all suggestive.

FNAF 3 is ridiculously hard and presise, and is the one I'm worst at, but it just attracts my interest with the mechanics and storyline.

You guys realize Springtrap can only move one room back at a time, right?

But that's the thing. It's too precise. It just gets frustrating when you have to have luck on your side. Did I also mention that by the time you hear banging in your vents? You're screwed? I'm not exaggerating when I say this: I was looking in my camera, heard him in the vents. Swap cameras to look, and as soon as I clicked lock vent he was in my room.
I never played 3 or 4.

But I'd say

1
4
2
3

1 is the original which is usually the best. Good balance of atmosphere and mechanics. Even after the scares go away it's still a good micro-management game. Few secrets, but it was before the full story was established and the secrets that are there are decent. Few RNG problems, but nothing as serious as 2 or 3. Best overall.

4 seems to have really good atmosphere, though the removal of the camera takes away a lot of the visual creepiness. Great mechanics and use of audio to build atmosphere. Very few secrets though compared to the others, but maybe that will change after the update. When you fail it also feels like it's your fault and not just being screwed by RNG. 4 is probably the best gameplay-wise.

2 had the least interesting mechanics as it mainly came down to "how fast can you do this", but it had the most cryptic secrets. Probably the best story-revealing secrets in the series. Balancing Foxy and the Puppet was annoying though, and like 3 it falls into the RNG difficulty trap.

3 was different, but it seemed the least scary of all 4 and was only more difficult due to RNG. It's also the most "jumpscare fest" game since a lot of the phantom ones are unavoidable.
