So, did Scott plan this story from the start or...?
If MatPat's dream theory is correct, then we already know almost the whole story. But the question is, did Scott plan this setting in a dream since FNAF1?

I mean, he probably never knew that FNAF was gonna get THAT much popularity. He probably wasn't planning on making sequels until fans demanded it. Even if the setting isn't in a dream, did he already know the entire story before the last chapter? Scott already started writing the book for 10 months, so...

Either that or Scott is a time traveler.

I can't remember where I read this, but I seem to recall a post by Scott saying that he did in fact plan out the entire storyline during the development of the first game. Though there probably were some adjustments along the way.

Or time travel.

When I started looking through the games, I saw a series of threads that tied all four games together, but FNAF1 was always a stretch at best. I think if that is the case (That Cawthon wrote all four games as one piece), then he went through a major rewrite before making FNAF2.

I know how Scott did it.
He basically created this idea after making the first FNAF. He realised his games are finally getting the recognition he deserved (thought of it as a blessing from God in his perspective), and decided to make more games.
He tried to create a theme for his upcoming games using what he already has in FNAF 1 to extrapolate upon the next three games.
For example: In Scott's perspective: I am about to create four games that are about the theme of a dream. What should I add into the next three games that don't rip this theme apart and that if extracted separately, would fit into the dream theory.
And based of that list, he added stuff that would eventually be found by someone ( I think Razz first published a video about it, followed by Dawko, 8-Bit Gaming and finally Mat Pat).
ie: The shadow animatronics were nothing but shadows cast of the wall of Fredbear Family's Diner. So to accomplish that, I would add them both as a secret egg in FNAF 2 before revealling the truth in FNAF 4.

See what I mean?

I think he just went along and adapted. I think WE gave him the story, and honestly he has no idea what he is doing.

Then he just tried to make a story from the game he made. I doubt he had the original story form the start.
