This was true, but no longer is. The dev has decided to still offer pre-compiled release builds for free. However, the will be released on a fixed delay. I don't know what that delay is, I'd imagine it's ~2 weeks.

But not even the older versions are available and I looked back a couple versions, if you have a link to prove otherwise, please share.

There's only source code and a link to the store page on Steam.

And because this is open source it means that anyone else who ever contributes to this project is getting well, fudged. Only one dev pockets the cash, everyone else reaps the salt.

Thanks for breaking spirit of open-source, guess the paid mods fiasco inspired you?

Decided to open an issue on the github page, and someone explained it as this being the reason why:
https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/issues/315

You can find a mirror of the official download in the comments there on mega.nz

And he shouldn't pocket the cash for his work? He's still posting source code which is ALL that is required with Open Source.

Seriously get over yourself.

I got addicted to coffee.

Anyway, builds are released with a delay (2 weeks). That is not counting "patches" so a up-to-date build should be released soon.

Can anyone tell me how to use the "source code" as an executable .exe?
I hate it to use steam for opening Programs...

Any news on binaries? You pushed 9.4 about 17 days ago.

I so agree with this. I'll be keeping the old version until it no longer works I think. I mean it's on sale now, but will it display that I'm "playing Borderless Gaming" like ALL the time then? because that would suck. I want a program that's no in Steam to do this, but as long as my old version works I'm good.

Also to this poster. You would need to compile it, so go look that up.

Actually, you can run it without launching it from the Steam Library. First launch it in Steam Library, then on Borderless Gaming window, go to Tools > Disable Integration to Steam. After that, you can close both Steam and Borderless. Go to where you installed Borderless Window, create a shortcut on Desktop (or even run it on startup). Now you can launch it anytime.

Would care more about the first part of my question... the second is just flavor?

The problem is this approach. If you create something and offer it for free, then decide to remove the free version to force a paid version, it's kind of like giving your users the middle finger just to give a quick buck. Its what I hate about consoles this gen.

I mean if you're dissatisfied with the approach you can always use an alternative: http://alternativeto.net/software/borderless-gaming/# (Sure there are more if you google Borderless Window program) This isn't the only game in town.

Or use multiple if you find another works better for a specific game....

As of now the asking price is a couple of bucks. However I do understand some will be upset having an open source project free then not....

Again if you don't like something then let the dev know you are not supporting them and move on....

*Shrugs*

Only thing that miffs me is it appears the non-admin version is gone and I have to do some tweak to install the non-admin version now? https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/issues/333

I'm using the Github version since I use Borderless on very few games.... Not against throwing the dev a couple bucks if he is the one adding future game support.... If it was $10 or $20 then I would be more inclined to say nope. Looks to me since he's gone the paid model he's able to set more time aside to ask what features people want and make the time to implement them.

However some are saying since it's open source the community is thus providing the fixes and not being compensated.... I assume only the Dev is handling this though and not anyone else even though it is open source. Then again another team could just take the code and make there own free version since the code is open source....

Make the decision on what you feel is best to use if you're unhappy with the way things have changed. Ask the Dev in a civil manner and take the answer however you choose.
