How to cap framerate?
Hi there!

I'm using this program in order to play Sims 3 in borderless mode and it works great. But there's one problem I can't seem to figure out: Is there a way to limit my fps ingame while using this program? I don't want them to run wild, because that puts way too much strain on my graphic card. I'm able use Nvidia Inspector to cap my fps, but as soon as I turn on Borderless Gaming, my fps run wild again. :-/

This program doesn't allow for framerate caps. Try using Rivatuner Statistics Server to limit the FPS, or use an overclock program like MSI Afterburner to limit the performancce of your GPU.

First of all: Thanks for your answer. :) But I don't need another program to cap my fps. As I just said: I'm using Nvidia Inspector to cap my fps. :)

Here's my problem: If I play Sims 3 in fullscreen mode, the colors are way to dark (due to a bug). So I have to use windowed or borderless mode instead. I'm also trying to cap my fps, because this game tends to fry my gpu otherwhise. Nvidia Inspector is able to do this just fine.

So I'm trying to achieve two things: Running the game in borderless mode AND capping it's fps. Borderless Gaming helps with the first part, but Nvidia Inspector isn't able to cap the fps if I use Borderless Gaming.. -.- I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point. :,-)

I'm thinking that Borderless Gaming is interferring with the way Nvidia Inspector is handling it. Maybe try forcing Vsync on or telling nvidia inspector to also limit the framerate of borderless gaming.

Damn, this sounded so good, but sadly it doesn't work: Nvidia Inspector is not able to limit the framerate of Borderless Gaming at all. I tried forcing Vsync on and I also tried using Framerate Limiter, but both options doesn't seem to have any effect on Borderless Gaming. :-/

Yeah the only other thing I can suggest is RTSS like before, it's never given me any issues with Borderless Gaming.

Thanks, guess I'll check out RTSS. This is the first time Nvidia Inspector isn't able to do something for me, so I'll be suprised if RTSS does a better job. :D

Edit: That didn't work either. Meh.

What GPU do you have? I know on the radeon cards it's possible to set a target framerate. My suggestion would be to go into the nvidia driver and see if you can set VSYNC for 1/2 display specifically for the game.

Here's a few more options for limiting the framerate as well. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Frame_rate_(FPS)#Frame_rate_capping

I'm using a Nvidia card and Borderless Gaming completely ignores all vsync settings. :/
