Mute game audio when in background

Is there a way for the app to control whether game sound is played or not when alt+tab is pressed?

This would be a great feature to add if it was possible to detect if a window was in the background or not. Many games that actually support borderless window have this option like source engine games.

On a seperate note, could I ask if this program does update to the next version if you disable steam integration? For some reason my patch version was 9.4.4. I have it so it runs on startup and update check ticked, yet my version was out of date still. Thanks!

The software cannot update if it is running, if you want to receive updates kill the software and start Steam.

Sorry to bump this up but is there anyway this could be tweaked to work when you push alt+shift to view the game window. Currenly the sound only unmutes on the game window when you click into the window itself, when you use alt+shift the sound remains muted.

old post but i cannot find a way to disable games beeing muted ?
one example is War on the sea it botheres me the game mutes when i tab out i did read here this tool can toggle this on / off but i can only click "mute yes" while the game already mutes in background -.-

i want to keep the audio running not disable it

The app can mute the sound or allow it coming through the app. But if the game itself mutes the sound when not in focus, there is nothing for this app to 'see' and affect. So it can't unmute sound that is not received. You would need to find an option in the game or its configuration files to 'keep audio on when not in focus.'

this problem i have in a few games that does not allow us to unmute in background

is there not any app known that can force sound of anything into foreground ? i searching years without any solution i hate when games mute on tab out it just wont let me enjoy playing it
