"Hi Mechanics!
We are still here! We went down a rabbit hole to try and fix the physics and lag. Maybe the number one request from you mechanics. It ended up being a lot of work. But we think we are on to something now!"
but i agree it is a long time but they have a reason
However, they recently showed off progress on their twitter with massive performance boosts. They aren't gone or have abandoned the game, they made a big mistake by putting it all in one update instead of multiple smaller ones.
It is very likely that braindead comments like "game is dead" by idiots who don't check the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ twitter are the reason we haven't gotten a single damn Dev blog in a year because all they get is backlash, but sometimes for a good reason.
3+ years to fix with zero content updates. Whew.
Seriously, just put this game on the back burner. Stop looking at it, stop reading about it, and just go do something else for a year. Getting angry/sad/upset about a game not being finished on YOUR schedule isn't going to affect anyone but you. If chapter 2 drops next year (2025) and has better performance than it does now, I'll still play the hell out of it.
On top of that, have you ever been a part of a large project, programming or otherwise? There are setbacks and rabbit holes everywhere. I'd rather they took 5 -MORE- years and release chapter 2 as a well polished 1.0v than do what most EA games do and just drop garbage updates that break everything, then patch the garbage with more trash that breaks even more things.
2) large project? nice large project that one person is working on it because the rest of the studio is making another game to scam children
3) it's not possible that they are that stupid, it's just a scam and all these bots are excited because the guy took a minute to write a post on X that doesn't show anything
1. opinion.
2. you do not know how axelot is using internal resources. this is a tremendous assumption. yes they are working on a new game, however you do not know how much of their staff is doing what. this idea that one person is working on scrap and the whole rest of the staff is working on crew commander is not supported by any credible data. Period. stop spreading what is most likely a lie.
3. if you understood what you were looking at in that short clip on X you would realize just how important it is.
This, though. I'm really astonished, with how easy it is to get into a game engine and learn what goes into a game, that more people can't acquire the empathy for the people in a development situation. Honestly, that shouldn't even be necessary. Entitled, Toxic fans are bad for the community and if anything is killing something, it them killing the mood and fabricating a bad name for the devs without actually thinking about someone but themselves for a change.
Stop blaming people for being angry about being lied to and kept in the dark by some greedy company.
Speaking of lying, it has not been 10 years. what lie did they tell us. we have a survival game. that was the original pitch. sooo, what lie exactly? they never pitched chapter 2 until after we got survival. so again what lie?
