That would make it way too easy. Component kits are everywhere. Are you fighting robots? Done a warehouse or two? In all my play thrus this was never one of my issues. I'm just curious now as to your play style now or how many hours you have in game??
Nah, then you wouldn't need to mindlessly grind these garbage NPC's, and then you would have about 1/3 of the play time, similarly to most other items in surivial mode.
But if that would be a possibility, that would mean that the devs have at least some respect for your time. But that will never be a reality.
I like the way Fant (I think) does it, 5(?) circuits and a totebot head for 3 kits
gets rid of two surplus materials for 1 rarer one

50 component kits for 1 lv5 thruster
50 bajillion for a walk-in chest closet

I have no shortage of component kits, but way too many circuit boards.
I wish I could grind it up and use as fertilizer...ah, what the heck do I say, I don't even use fertilizer.
You can get component kits easily enough once you have a spudgun. Just because one material is ridiculously abundant doesn't mean they all need to be.

If anything they should reduce the number of circuit board drops because you're NEVER short on those after the really early game. They're not a resource but an inventory tax.

If you want to solve it for yourself you can go to where you have your game files and find the craftbot.json and edit it (usually at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Scrap Mechanic\Survival\CraftingRecipes\craftbot.json ). If you add
, { "itemId": "5530e6a0-4748-4926-b134-50ca9ecb9dcf", "quantity": 1, "craftTime": 5, "ingredientList": [ { "quantity": 5, "itemId": "f152e4df-bc40-44fb-8d20-3b3ff70cdfe3" }, { "quantity": 10, "itemId": "5f41af56-df4c-4837-9b3c-10781335757f" } ] }
right before the last "]" in the file (the comma at the start is important) it should give you 1 component kit for 5 circuit boards and 10 glass.
Copy all the contents of the changed file into https://jsonlint.com/ to check that it's actually correct before you start the game, since a broken JSON file will probably make things not work at all any more (which would just be solved by verifying game files in Steam, but still)
