Is the game just abandoned?

We havent had any news about Chapter 2 in a year, and the devs are silent as always, so should we even believe the game is being worked on? Even content creators are stepping away from Scrap Mechanic so, is there any hope left?

honestly i wouldn't consider that dev communication at this point. yes in the literal sense the devs have communicated to the players that they are working on the game but how many more twitter posts with no equivalent post on steam is it gonna be before we get something concrete?

They don't fully grasp the concept of early access and are known for being slow, but rest assured they are working on chapter two still. It's probably going to be underwhelming by the time it arrives but it will arrive. They're very active on twitter and their website. When either of those go dark we can assume its abandoned.

They've also stopped replying to the cool artwork and creative media things people have posted. Back in the day, they would thank people for making cool stuff irl, but now they're completely ignoring those people.

i would advise to never touch something these greedy publishers gets their hands on, Sadly they somehow have the money to keep buying out IP's just to ruin them

Yeah, I'm gunna' need you to post the links proving that Gearbox now owns the ip for Scrap Mechanic, because I've seen nothing about this happening.

He posted a standalone thread about it as well specifically calling out Scrap Mechanic, but either he removed it or it was removed by a moderator as spam/misinformation.

At this point I'd consider this game very abandoned. If they release this "upcoming" update at all, it had better be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, and even then I'll still be angry they haven't just released it in the form of several smaller updates.

it's on life support. the devs obviously don't want the stigma associated with abandoning an early access game so they send out a tweet every few months and put an intern to work on chapter 2.

technically they still have a few months to break their last self imposed deadline but since they suddenly decided that Steam was not worthy of any communication , it is probably safe to assume that Scrap Mechanic is very very dead.
