They'd have to radically changed the user interface to pull something like a Split Screen off.

My computer is in one room, and I have a Steam Link hooked up to my HDTV in another room. Approximately 80 of the Steam games I own have local multiplayer of some sort. I spend at least 3-5 hours a week playing PC games on the couch w/ my roommate. (And at least that much time playing solo games on couch)
This sort of setup is easy to accomplish, esp. since Steam has done some $15 Steam Link sales, and how newer Samsung TVs now support Steam Link natively, no need for a device.
Living room gaming is coming back, slowly. And I *love* it. I never managed to get my friends to play the same online multiplayer games as me (toooooo many choices to get everyone on the same page), but if you're visiting someone's house, you play what they have available.
I realize how old this comment is but I cant help but point out how completely ignorant it is.
