What's the distance between you and your friend?
It could be a high ping possibly.
If not, are you both making multiple loose objects? (Example 5 broken cars?) Fixed objects create less lagg as they require less physics calculations, the more physics calculations required the more lagg.
This also applies to bearings, if the bearing is connected to an engine, it does not need physics calculations to work out it's rotation, but if it rotates freely, it'll add to the processing requirements...
Times that by two when playng MP...
For now, if you're just building bases and vehicles for travel you should be fine, if you're building masses of complex physics based creations or giant piles of loose objects, it'll lagg.
Obviously optimisation will come in the future, but for now try to avoid unessacary physics. :)
This is a Post about "Multiplayer lag" please add to or create your own with simular topics as your answers are offtopic of the actual post.
OP is not asking anything he's just pointing out the lag when playing MP
the main cause of lag ingame is the multiple springs and the game having to process the gravity for them all, the Bearings themself dont cause much lag, even using an exess amount of them.
