Attention Chapter 2!!!
Hello everyone, we waited for the campaign, because soon the game will be released from early access, Chapter 2 will be released! I myself am now in shock, but let me give the facts.
1. Scrap's official fandom says "Chapter 2 is an upcoming major update to Scrap Mechanic which is estimated to release on summer or autumn 2023 based on the local branch that appeared recently on SteamDB which has been an indicator before that an update is going to drop soon". https://scrapmechanic.fandom.com/wiki/Chapter_2#:~:text=Chapter%202%20is%20an%20upcoming,is%20going%20to%20drop%20soon.
2. I also went to SteamDB today and saw that the last local update was 3 days ago! Which already says a lot, and even more so, these updates have been dragging on since the beginning of August.
3. The local update depot on August 1 weighs over 12 gigabytes!
Well, I summed up the facts that Axolot is finally doing something, most likely you need to wait for the update in September or October, but these are just my guesses.

The local depot started to be used since around early February for Chapter 2 development. The depot is almost 14GBs as of August 1, when presumably another internal bugfix was released.

Bruh its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ December now. If there doing an update its gonna be a Christmas update and if there's no update by Christmas then honestly I'm just gonna give up hope that scrap mechanic will become a great game cause its been so long since they released anything and they haven't gotten any community feedback for it. Honestly I get the feeling that its gonna be a major disappointment which is gonna suck cause I've been playing this since I was in middle school and I love this game but they're just taking too much time and not communicating enough. Either way I guess well see by the end of this month whether they stick to their estimate or not. See you all then.

I too am wondering where the update is also I hope they resolved the issues with sliding vehicles without using sticky wheels although they sound good.

No official updates yet?

I'm not hopeful for an update, I just want a devlog so we can see what's being worked on, some kind of evidence that progress, no matter how small, is being made.

Will remember that update development takes time, the devs have family or other business to attend to.
For a 7yo EA game that boasts "things are constantly changing & developing" in it's loading menus it's a bit embarrassing that the last content update was 1+1/2 2 years ago.
Robocraft lived, died, & started a sequel in the time it took 3/5ths of SM to come out, From the Depths released out of EA, TerraTech has a second game indev now, factorio released, & is closing in on v2.0, 15 CoDs have released

Do you think other gamedevs don't have families or mortal connections

The only reasonable excuse I can see for the update drought is that they're pairing ch2 with a lighting overhaul (which yes they still could have released separate)

The lightning overhaul was claimed, and looked to be, almost finished when they released Devblog 24, on October 4, 2022. I'd assume it was finished by the end of that year. Now it's just feature creep, adding more features that might have not been on the internal roadmap, fixing bugs and working on their other game. It's crazy how many things happened in the 7 years SM has been in EA, heck even the things that happened in between Chapter One and were we are now.

And that would be understandable if we actually had anything to go on. For all we know the week before they show us a dev blog they just throw something together probably using some community mods and take some screenshots. They give us nothing of substance. Only flare.
