Scrap Mechanic

Scrap Mechanic

Its taking a long time becuase they are making a different game...
"I have seen information by a Twitter user that there's a (now deleted) Twitter account that seemed to leak what would appear to be a new building puzzle game from Axolot Games. Upon further investigation, Axolot Games AB has applied for a name patent with the EU IP Office, for a game named 'Crew Commander', in November 2022. The user claims that Axolot has pulled development resources and developers from their 'cash cow', Scrap Mechanic, and they're working on this new game. It would explain why it took 3 years to develop Chapter Two, but it's still horrible that we wouldn't get a notice, or something that would explain, at least vaguely, why the update has been in development for so long.

The EUPTO filing link is here, for anyone interested: https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/#details/trademarks/018770990
The trademark was registered/approved on March 17 this year.
The UKIPO filing link is here as well, they have filed it September 29, 2022, and it was registered December 23, 2022:
https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00003834584

The user claims that the project will be announced 'next year'. Now, if this is part of the original (deleted user) tweet, or something else, I'm unsure if it means 2023 or 2024."

Typical "Indie game developer" That is having a hard time making a game "Cus THey ARe AN INDIe Dev TEAm"... Yet they have the means to go and make a whole other game LMFAO

Sorry man. I saw this in 2 different places by two different people. Since i wasnt aware of the original poster, i just ran with it. I also changed it a bit to not make it look like i myself was the one informed by said twitter user. I fixed it though

I wouldn't have ran with it at all, if not for the links that confirm at least part of the claim.

And as far as everyone else, i would be more concerned with the information at hand, rather that cry that some dudes comment got yoinked. Let that be his concern (that i apologized for and fixed).

I'm more concerned with people seeing the information, rather than the conversation being about who originally posted it, which at the time i had no way of doing.

Indeed, we should focus our attention more on the possibility that SM's Chapter Two might have been delayed because of Crew Commander. I was only pointing out that I wrote the comment, I hope I wasn't perceived as rude.

No, not at all. Your comment was was totally justified.

indeed a good point, these devs are honestly just disappointing... I may be wrong but it seems like they did this same thing while working on survival itself, too? decided to start working on Raft midway through survival development. they need to stick to one game until it's in a good state, then go to others.

RAFT isn't developed by Axolot Games, but by Redbeet Interactive, a different studio that's two hours away from Axolot's studio. Axolot has provided funding in the past, and they're publishing the game, they have nothing to do with its development.

oh ok, I see. still don't get why they would start making another game in the middle of a huge update, though.

It's not a new thing to start pre-production (or full production) on a different project while you're working on one or more active projects, in the gaming or software industry at the very least. If they can efficiently allocate time to both SM and CC, I'd be totally fine with it, but a little notice informing the users that they're working on other things in the background, not just on SM content anymore, so new updates could be delayed would have been helpful, but their choice to stay silent will only frustrate the players even more.

I don't care how old this post is this has to be one of the most ignorant responses I've ever heard from somebody defending a company that has no reason to abandon a game for this long you need to wisen up!

I'm not defending Axolot in any way, shape or form. I was just mentioning that it's industry-standard, both for small or indie game studios, and larger, AAA game studios, to start or work on multiple projects at the same time.

What I was trying to convey is that it's fine if Axolot worked on both CC and SM, but they also needed to up their communication game, because it sucks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass to wait months at a time to get even the smallest updates on social media - and it's not even on Steam, they're posting updates elusively to Twitter. If they mentioned that SM's development might wind down or halt for a while, because they're working on a different project, people might stop with the begging for updates, and might make this situation slightly more bearable.

you know what, i have been playing scrap survival today. just because. nice casual day, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this way or that.

This game will get updated and the debate will end, or it wont. none of this stops any of us from playing with what there is to play with, or not. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wont change anything, wont help anybody. it wont get you a refund and it wont stop axelot from following their own path

That said, i am actually very curious what crew commander will be.

also, I hope every one can just relax. we all play games for fun and entertainment. go do that.
