tapebot-proof durability level
hi
i'm thinking durability level 6 (concrete 2) is too hard for tapebots to whack. tried looking in the projectile json file but can't open it.
does anyone know?
thanks

metal 1 is tough enough to defend against tape bots.

Try metal 3
metal 2 works just fine for tapebots. perhaps even metal 1

Believe it or not the best defence against Tapebots, especially those in and around warehouses, is stealth. I've been playing with a particular concept for a few months now that makes handling these things a breeze.
The idea (sort of) is that you don't have to spent time and resources making a ton of metal 3 to block Tapebot shots if the Tapebots never actually shoot at you.

he is talking about defending his base from high level raids, not running a warehouse. they will shoot in a raid no matter how sneaky you are. they shoot at valuable tech if they cant shoot you.

it is correct! lol. actually, i have a bi-rail transport system near my farm and up quite high. but the tapebots love to just stand where they spawned and shoot my rails which i made out of the crap metal you get from warehouse grounds and rooftops (because i needed several butt tons). the rails fall down and a large section needed to be rebuilt. i've tried just regular concrete which is D lv 5, same as metal 1. i'll use concrete 2 if it's needed. best bang for the buck if weight isn't an issue.

weight should not matter at all for your rails.

I believe metal 2 durability and up is tapebot-proof, although not 100% sure.

i was just testing, in creative mode, a tape bot wont even shoot if trapped in a metal 1 (durability 5) box. However, durability 4 and lower materials it will shoot its way out of the box.

huh, i thought they were supposed to attack stuff regardless of durability. anyway, nice test. thx

Have you seen the price of tape lately, they're just being frugal.

to be fair, it may behave differently during a raid in survival.
