i have had problems with 1 - 2 bots actually spawning in my base why i was right at the front waiting to defend and they had a free go at my crops before i realised. i wondered how the hell they got in. I then stayed roughly in the middle the next time and they spawned out side the walls. I then went to the front to defend.
Also when i go out far enough, then i return, there is a bot in my base. theyre not attacking or anything just doing their standby animations etc buts its rather annoying. so yeah....try and build the majority of it over water.....or high up
Peninsulas are good because the bots dont spawn in water, this way the bots will spawn in limited directions and you can line the front with your defences. yes saw blades will work (drills aswell ), they dont need to be operational or anything just literally stuck on a wall etc
the bots will also go in the direction you are to, which helps filtering them toward you if you have traps etc
i put my farm in between the large harvest station bins outside of that station... this way i can use the bins as walls and i use less material...
as for the water i use cement blocks high over head to my pump like a power line.. bots can get to it.. this way i can water my garden without building over on right next to the water..
