my first thoughts are:
1) i thought the same, having pistons push out a wall...think they will get destroyed, but the seat didnt get destroyed assuming it was level 5..neither did the electric engines. (which were right at the front)..again they looked like level 5 and so maybe level 5 pistons could be used??....
2) dont think so, as the logic etc was also destroyed which was 'behind' the blocks.. seems like the blast travels through the blocks for some reason
3) dont know, never got close enough to a tapebot with one to find out..ive always just shot at them......can sawblades be destroyed?? can they be used as defences against the bombbots??? try it!! I will
4) again id say its pot luck....the ammo container at the rear even got destroyed
5) dont think we can really know ( unless its in game file scripts) , or...... theyre based off the big or small explosive we can make in the craft bot.....set up a 16 x 16 block with one in the middle and see what damage it does. try it!!! i will
best way to test, is build what youre thinking and go storm a warehouse!!! I will
I am planning to test all this, I just started this thread in advance so I can get different results from people to better coordinate what I plan to build. I'll be using the survival bots mod in creative for this for some extensive explosion resistance testing rather than getting yeet'd in the warehouse over and over with defective prototypes.
I want to find the meta of this concept and finalise the design if possible.
Ah yes the t3 metal, I've watched Scrapman caged a red boss with it. Besides that I also noticed that the supposedly indestructible warehouse ramps can actually be destroyed because The ramp on Scrapman's t3 metal cage disappeared and Squidy's mentioned getting his ramps protecting the 1000 crops getting destroyed by boss bots while playing off camera.
What I'm wondering now is what if there is a tank that can work with just low destructibility blocks. Because spud guns, logic, wheels and ammo containers were destroyed. Is might be possible to build an effective tank if it uses sawblades instead of spud guns and maybe use concrete 3 or metal 3 as wheels.
In addition to that, if pistons don't get easily destroyed or maybe is immune to explosive damage somehow. It can be used alongside the extending wall with a sawblade and pistons at max speed, to whip the red tapebots in the face damaging it with sawblades while simultaneously damaging itself with its own explosion on the extending wall.
Now I'll go prototype it.
The aim is not always to completely solve the problem but rather just to see how much can be done about it.
