vehicle design and physics
so, I have a few vehicles built for various roles. The one i end up rolling in most is my logging vehicle simply to deal with trees in the way of where i'm trying to go, but there are universal problems with any vehicle when it comes to the physics.

First problem i have is complete lack of traction in the game. Now matter how much weight i put on wheels they wont grip anything whether its sliding sideways on a 1 block grade hillside or trying to drive under full engine 5 power and steering.

Next problem is trying any kind of harvesting vehicle and interacting with what you want to harvest. be it mining or logging, there seems to be 2 issues with the interaction from either too small of a hit box on the targeted item or the tool and then the matter of time the tool must be in contact hitbox to hitbox. And then of course there's the simple task with my first point and trying to keep the tools on target without sliding away or bouncing off the target regardless of the weight of the vehicle or weight on the tool head.

I am curious though how folks design there builds in general for gathering/refining component pieces. refining on the vehicle sounds like a nice idea, but the refiners weigh a crapton. And if you go with a base refining one container is not really enough for a trip. More than one and you're back to the weight problem again.

So, in keeping with MY thread.

to tank or not to tank.

Once you're equipped to raid warehouses full of baddies, how do you guys tackle that? I'm envisioning the need of some kind of armored RV with the bed and supplies and holding garage for a small tank to roll out into the hot zone with. I'm seriously thinking of that tiny tank I saw in i forget who's video.
would be nice somehow - the last warehouse run i did (yesterday) was on foot with as bed 2 stacks of potatoes and 5 burgers on my car. half way up i died and all the bots outside respawned
can bots destroy T3 metals? Just trying to figure out if you can make an indestructible RV to have some distance from the warehouse.
i dont know about tape bots
big reds take apart t3 metal
i saw tape bots do nothing to T3 in I think it was KAN's tank video or maybe moonbo. Do big reds wander far from warehouses?
the last big red i found was wandering behind the 2nd packing station. pretty far off any warehouse. they seem to spawn very rare outside of warehouse areas. more often in or near a warehouse area and in groups in some burned areas

when i was wandering around lost on foot i came up a burnt forest valley with 5 or 6 of them guys and a dozen plus haybots scattered around like a battlefield.

those areas are often decorated with molten farmbots XD
took out all the mechanics on the boom and replaced them with robotic arm movements instead. left one swing down function stock on the vehicle. This way I can trade a drill head and a lumber head.

So, I am back to thinking about that tank again. how large can you make a tank that still can navigate a warehouse?

I'm also debating electric engine or bearing powered.
Electric. You need better control rather than fuel efficiency in a warehouse. Also tapebots will be dropping batteries.
why can we not craft batteries?
my thoughts about that tank
warehouses have tight passages so a small tank should be good also would choose an electric engine as it does not require much space and also can be fed with the batterys from tapebots.
also an idea that i dont know if it works - adding a sawblade to clear out destructible objects maybe?

just thoughts so please dont blame me for that - today i got attacked twice for no reason and im fed up for today :steamfacepalm:
