Logic gate logic
G'day, after a few video researches and some science, I've figured out the logic gate

AND - Needs All on
OR - 1 or more on
XOR - Odd numbers on only
NAND - Zero or any on, not all
NOR - Needs all off
XNOR - even's only (zero is an even number)

So my question is, what is the logic of the naming, AND, OR, XOR, etc..and the symbols corresponding to each of the unknown acronym? makes it really hard to memorise and I have to use a cheat sheet.

How a logic gate can be used as a switch for another logic gate has me perplexed as well, who thought up putting a 3 way logic gate with OR, NOR and AND would create a flashing sequence.

Thanks.

ps. Thank goodness for KAN and his awesome youtube channel, or I'd still be going nuts trying to figure out why my suspension flips my car, and more. I think suspension glitch and the welding tool needs a section in the handbook.

Hi

those are logic gates' names commonly used in logic/electronics/IT.

AND - literally logical and operation (like in sentence "first and second"), so it means all
OR - same, logical operation (first or second), so at least one
XOR - exclusive OR, either first or second, not both
NOR - not OR, literally negation of OR, gives true when OR would give false
NAND - not AND, so not all

Examples for two inputs obviously. The list of logic gates and tables of outputs for binary operations can be found on wikipedia[en.wikipedia.org]

Awesome, thanks heaps.

Good post,
the old logic gate gave some info but the new is a bit unclear unless you know.
I play a lot of minecraft and building redstone logic gates helped me understand functions.

some people are posting about rock harvesting causing bearing and suspension problems. make sure you clear all the rock, even little bits showing can be big underground, some make my drill go wobbly too

Good info for those that need the help. Thanks
