I'm personally searched for wood almost an hour... And only then tried to hit a tree)) Other resources and features very similar - all near you on the start but you know nothig about.
Except traider... I can't find him more then 30 hours...
If anything, the game is too easy in survival - barely any enemies/variety of enemies, no harsh environments, abundant chests spread around that give fuel, battery, food, water that extends the length of any expedition indefinitely as long as you keep at them (and a bed for mistakes)
No, its already way to easy. In your case build stuff to make gathering stuff easier...
So find the pompstation (building with a yellow wrench on top..)..craft a craftbot.
then craft a resource collector and 1 or 2 drills.
Then build a car, with 1 or 2 Drills and a resource collector attached to it and go mine.
The only bots that are a bit hard, are the tapebots... the rest are extreme easy to handle.
Is there an end game in this game? I played it over a 1000 hours and nothing of an end game in sight.
